I agree Arkansas benefits by adding A&M more than any other existing sec school.

I'm not going to say Arkansas will dominate A&M in the near future until I see what Sumlin does with talent

I'll speak for my fellow Hog fan. Perception is all that matters and it is why TAMU can't recruit on the Texas and OU level.

But they now expect to recruit on the Texas, OU, LSU and Alabama level?

Having lived in College Station for 2 years, that's a pretty accurate assessment.

Please tell me about your favorite Texas country artist. Is he coming to the Hall of Fame anytime soon?

Same reason why I think you are a little high on that list.

Look, UCLA and TAMU should never be dominated year in and year our by multiple teams. Their resources to pull from within 150 miles is literally unfair...

Yet, the seem to come up on the short in rather than the winning end. After the SWC folded and first few years of the Big12 what happened to TAMU?

How does Oklahoma State make a BCS this decade and TAMU doesn't? We are talking Oklahoma State history here which isn't close to TAMU or Arkansas.

Winning and location are what matters. A&M outrecruited Texas & OU in the 80's and 90's.

Kids want to win, let their parents attend games, and get to the NFL.

OU doesn't recruit Houston well at all. A&M always does because of location. We don't recruit Dallas well unless we are winning.

I don't mind Aggies IRL, but the real truth is that I've worried much more about the Mississippi State game the past three years.

Aggie smack to me is kind of like that scenario when a fat girl is hitting on you. Some think you should be flattered by the attention, but inside you're thinking "doesn't she know I'm outta her league?"

Sun, aren't you a West Coast guy for grad school? You know how poor UCLAs facilities are.

Same happened to A&M. We were winning under Jackie and RC and let our facilities go. OU and Texas blew us away in the bricks and mortar race and it hurt.

Same with LSU. It's not coincidental they didn't touch facilities from about 1972 to 2000 and the winning started soon after. It made Saban's job easier than it would have been otherwise.

A&M has spent the last 7 or 8 years building facilities and are still doing that with a stadium upgrade very soon

The only time A&M has "lived up to its potential" is when you guys were cheating your asses off.

Why?

I'll tell you why.

1. Bad hires
2. More schools with new facilities competing for recruits in the same area. Oklahoma State isn't close to the same program now as in the 80's and 90's.
3. Arkansas and LSU are now getting back into Texas with a lot of help from TAMU.
4. Texas and OU are still in the same location with a lot better history.
5. Perception - Military, white-school. (even if it's not that's how the country thinks outside of Houston)

These are valid reasons otherwise TAMU should be like a FSU to UF... It's not.

You can do it in 80's and 90's but not now? What's so different.. Read #2 and #4 those remain constant and #3 is coming...

How do you fix it?

Basically, Yes.

I agree UCLA needs a major overhaul on facilities to compete with USC, Oregon and what's trying to be built at ASU. But there is zero reason they shouldn't be better just like TAMU.

However, Petrino and Saban didn't get their upgraded facilities until they won. $30M is going into the ground at Arkansas as we type for a new football complex.

You've identified part of the problem...

Sumlin $2M

Petrino $3.63M
Miles $3.86M
Saban $4.83M

LINK

Where is the commitment from TAMU grabbing a splash hire?

I don't care TAMU was the first to pay a coach $1M that's extremely old news...

TAMU needs to win for facility upgrades

Joining the SEC does not facilitate wins for them

There facility upgrades are not going to be there

They will continue to be a middling program

How the frick is Tennessee 16th behind Miami, Oregon, UNC and Texas A&M.

Right now I see us at about 10-12

When we are winning, top 10.

It's actually telling, isn't it?

How does such a doormat beat great teams like TAMU, AU, LSU et. al. with so little expectation and resources? Ohio State deserved the win, as I see it.

We hired the best candidate available and then negotiated a salary (that you only know the base of. The final contract with bonuses and incentives has not been made public yet). We aren't going to give money away. And now we have assistant to hire. How about we wait and judge the entire staff.

And Les at LSU and Urban at UF were both hired for less than that base.

So keep trolling. You're failing right now
