Chizik is in perfect position to do very well this season and next, in recruiting.

'Bama is stocked with studs already... and Auburn did great in the Iron Bowl. Chizik can tell a recruit "we were ahead with less than 2 minutes to go.... you might be the guy that puts us over the top"... etc.

We'll lose guys because they don't want to redshirt.

You are correct, sir.

AU will never dominate the state in recruting, much less the SEC or the nation like Saban has been doing for the past 3 years. However, its been demonstrated time and time again that finishing in the upper half of the SEC is enough to win championships. AU's 2004 title was the end product of three or four very-good-but-not-great classes.

Auburn never has dominated the state in recruiting, and they seem to do pretty good.

When you look at the limits imposed by the NCAA and now by the SEC, you will never have a team that does what the big boys did in the old days, sign 150 kids and make most of them ride the bench.

If Auburn can get their share of in state talent, continue to do good work in Georgia and Florida, and now with this coaching staff go after kids from Texas, Louisiana - or other areas that haven't been an Auburn hotbed - they will do good. If Bama goes out of state to get players, that may open up some in state players for Auburn. If Bama gets the top talent from the state, Auburn just has to work harder to get the upper echelon of out of state guys.

With the 85/25 rule in place it is more about making sure your kids perform to the best of their ability and execute a well coached gameplan than it is about signing top top talent from wherever.

Not going to the SECCG means that Chizik and Company will have the whole week for in home visits and following up with recruits who attended Friday's game. BTW, Dakota Mosley, from Arkansas chose AU over UT yesterday. He was planning to wait until December to commit but changed his mind after the Iron Bowl.

Chizik and crew is heading in the right direction.

While, I know he can recruit and bring the Iron Bowl back to the game it should be. Like yesterday, damn what a game.

However, I do not believe Chizik will get them over the top. He can build the foundation though.
