The team suspended the 5 guys from the Sugar originally, and then the NCAA reinstated them to make money.
Everyone knows Tressel played those guys for one reason and one reason only. He did not want his streak against SEC teams in bowl games to continue. I understand that the NCAA said they could play, but the whole I only let them play because they "promised" to come back next year is laughable.

Well maybe not the NCAA directly but they do appease sponsors. Every sponsor for the Sugar would have been pissed if those guys hadn't played.

well that's one way to look at it but that wasn't the intent. It was only to reassure people who thought the punishment was unfair since all those guys would bolt for the NFL.

Well of course we need a playoff for more than just the reason that we need to determine the best team.
Did you guys see how flat the offenses were in the first 20 minutes of the NCG? awful. You also can't let teams prepare for 40 days to determine who the best is.

where did I say it reassure anybody? I was saying the "promise" wasn't the REASON why they were let to play initially, it came AFTER people pointed out that they could easily bolt for the NFL. Whether or not it served its purpose, that's a different question.

It doesn't matter if he has a vote or not, the AP doesn't count for anything so who cares?
