I gave ChatGPT this prompt…

Give me your best prediction of who you think will win the game between the Missouri Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide tomorrow.

Here’s the response…

Tomorrow’s SEC showdown between the Missouri Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide is shaping up to be a thrilling contest. While Alabama enters as a slight favorite, Missouri has several factors working in its favor that could tip the scales.

?? Missouri Tigers: The Underdog with Bite
• Home Field Advantage: The Tigers are riding a 15-game home winning streak at Faurot Field, the second-longest active streak in the FBS. ?
• Ground Game Dominance: Missouri boasts the nation’s leading rusher, Ahmad Hardy, who has been a force on the ground. Their offense ranks third nationally in rushing yards and leads in time of possession. ?
• Defensive Prowess: The Tigers’ defense ranks 11th nationally, with elite third-down efficiency and a solid pass rush. ?
• Strategic Rest: A timely bye week has allowed Missouri to fine-tune its zone pass coverage and quarterback play, potentially giving them an edge in this matchup. ?

?? Alabama Crimson Tide: The Road Warriors
• Proven Leadership: Under head coach Kalen DeBoer, Alabama has a remarkable 13-2 record in ranked-on-ranked matchups, showcasing their ability to perform under pressure. ?
• Explosive Offense: Quarterback Ty Simpson leads a potent passing attack that ranks fifth nationally, posing a significant challenge for Missouri’s defense. ?
• Injury Concerns: Alabama will be without key players, including wide receiver Jaylen Mbakwe, which could impact their offensive rhythm. ?

?? Prediction: Missouri 27, Alabama 24

While Alabama’s experience and depth make them formidable opponents, Missouri’s home-field advantage, balanced offense, and rested defense could lead to a closely contested game. The Tigers have the potential to pull off an upset, making this an exciting matchup to watch.

For those interested in the betting lines, Alabama is currently a 3-point favorite, with the over/under set at 51.5 points. ?

Enjoy the game!

Pretty sure that is his overall record against ranked teams or something, because it's not correct that he's done that at Alabama.

As for Missouri, this will be the first team they've played ranked in the top40 in F+ this year, but it has Missouri as #12 in OF+ and #22 in DF+ which is pretty good. Alabama is #6 in OF+ and #8 in DF+.

I asked my son to give ChatGPT the same prompt and it replied that Alabama would win 31-27! Ha!

Interesting. My ChatGPT said otherwise:

It’s a close call, but here’s what I lean toward:

Prediction: Alabama 31, Missouri 28

Rationale:
• Alabama is favored by a narrow margin (˜3 points) in the betting lines.
• The SP+ model actually gives a slight edge to Missouri, projecting a 28–26 win for the Tigers.
• Experts tend to pick Alabama in a tight game. For example, Brent Taylor predicts a 33–27 Alabama win.
• Other previews expect a more offense-driven contest, with Missouri’s rushing attack testing Alabama’s run defense.

But models and analysts differ, so it could swing the other way. If you like, I can also simulate alternative outcomes (upset, blowout) to show probabilities. Want me to do that?
