RatingsPercentageIndex = 33.3% win percentage, 33.3% opponents win percentage, 33.3% opponents' opponents win percentage...thus SOS accounts as practically 2/3 of the total formula...
Home wins count as 0.6win -- home losses count as 1.4loss. Inverse true on the road(this is the basketball formula -- not sure how the baseball likely varies).
RPI is 2/3 SOS -- and it is not mathematically valid. If you look at the last 5 selection committees in baseball, they heavily rely on Boyd's ISR in favor or RPI...
