Not being a troll but what's the deal with the coaches going on vacation yesterday? Didn't they all just get there?

Must be new to this. Staffs vacation after NSD rather than after summer drills. Makes sense when you think about. Sorry for the sarcasm.

If you have only been there one month or less, why do you need a vacation. New staffs should prove themselves and have a great result in the 2016 class I thought. That was the basis for my question. I know it's customary for cfb staffs to go on vacation in July but haven't heard of it in February especially in a situation like theirs.

Yeah the secondary is the problem and I thought that Saban was the db guru, so what's the deal
Posted on 2/6/15 at 6:43 pm to GaTiger77
I didn't want to say it but I will. Was it a ploy to get him to fax it in?

It could be the truth. After listening to several coaches in interviews following the NSD it looks like they take a week of vacation in shifts or all at the same time. Point being vacations after signing day is normal for staffs.

This is the week that everyone shuts it down, take the time when it makes the most sense. These guys have been working somewhere and some will even spend part of the time together. They work off of a calendar like any other business or profession.

I don't care either way but if you are employed a month or less it seems odd. But comparing it to a typical corporate situation probably doesn't count. Carry on!!

The deal is that we were damn good. What's your excuse. Seriously, what happened?
Posted on 2/6/15 at 6:57 pm to GaTiger77
They all came from other programs where they had been putting in the same hours of recruiting. They just happened to finish it off at UF. It isn't a normal corporate situation and it is industry standard for their profession to vacation after NSD.

Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense now!

The brewery is closed, go on in to work. Report back on how productive that is.

Still makes little sense. They're new, they're trying to build a viable championship team after a bad year for UF, and they have a shot at a 5 star recruit in a mediocre (for UF) recruiting season. It's simply not logical to be offering up ultimatums to highly-prized recruits (it felt like the gist of the alleged communication was "Send in your LOI now because we'll be leaving soon and you'll lose your chance.") If you were in their shoes, would you have handled it the exact same way? At the very least, I'd say they should have de-emphasized that point and shown, at least outwardly, patience toward their prized recruit. I doubt even Saban, for all his bluntness, would have been quite so peremptory with a 5* in the same situation.
