Wow they breed them stupid in Tennessee. He's saying the Vols have the POTENTIAL to be a top 10 team at the end of this season, but that potential doesn't mean they should currently be in the top 10. Of course a potential championship is the same as winning one to Vol fans.

Who is better than VOLS that's also behind them in the rankings? I could make a strong case that we are better and more talented than Stanford, Michigan and ND easily.

Also, as a Georgia fan, you sound like a mouthbreather bringing up championships or lack there of, internet user Trashman

Ohio St had similar offensive stats ypg (lsu missed a game) to LSU last season, yet LSU returns 8-9 starters on offense.. Ohio St returns 3..

Ohio St had similar defensive stats, ypg etc.. to LSU last season.. yet LSU finally returns senior defensive top players and as a whole return another 8-9 startes on defense.. plus the addition of Valentine and a huge addition /upgrade at DC..

Ohio St. returns only 3 defensive starters..

I see no justification for them being ranked that high other than of course coaches are going to vote for coaches with championships.. There is a respect factor.. but in college football.. overall experience.. is huge..and especially on the defensive side. that's rough to overcome..

That was my only complaint with the coaches poll. The top 4 were very predictable.. most of it just based upon last season.

I do think the SEC, as a whole, won't be as strong as in the past.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2, possibly 3 loss SEC Champion that's left out of the Playoffs.

I disagree that Washington is overrated. They have an easy schedule plus a great defense.

I have no problem with where Tennessee or LSU is ranked. I think they are right where they need/deserve to be. Rankings get adjusted during the season for a reason. If they deserve the ranking they will stay there. if they do not they will fall. I'm willing to bet both stay very high.

Yup.

LSU had a very young offensive line. Talented but young. 2 freshman linemen were All Americans.. they both return and should be better by experience and in strength..

LSU has a very loaded team and returns upperclassman with experience at the QB position for once. Many quarterbacks make huge strides in their Junior/3rd season. Look at Dak and the Arkansas QB.. Look at even Mettenberger his first season starting and he was older than Harris. Did people give up on those quaterbacks? The Arkansas qb was atrocious early on..

Harris was what should have been a 10 win (one game cancelled) first year stating sophomore QB. He played with a sports hernia which very much limited him, especially escaping pressure.. but he showed some flashes in the Florida and even the Alabama game (as bad as it was) he did have some nice completions and a TD.

Fournette is backed up by another 5 star RB who lead the team in YPC.

LSU has a somewhat more favorable schedule outside of maybe traveling to Florida which will be tough.. but Jennings went down there and beat them recently. We can win there with a better team.

I really feel they should be 5th, and absolutely not Ohio St that high. That's just too much to overcome.

But the cool thing with the top 6..
We get three match ups.

LSU plays Alabama
OU plays Ohio St week 3
FSU plays Clemson

Special stuff. LSU returns 18 starters or so.. and have the most projected guys going in the first 2 rounds.. very similar of what OSU just did.. if not more impressive.. and they won it all 2 seasons ago.. but yet LSU put up very similar stats this past season.

Any ways, I'm sure more will continue to bash LSU.. but a lot of things are going their way for once. They finally return elite Seniors. That hardly ever happens.. LSU's strength coach said this is the strongest team he's had and the leadership is on par with the 2011 team.

It's exciting. I don't expect LSU to win it all or anything, because coaching and schedule mattes.. but they absolutely return a very experienced team on both sides of the ball with balance for once in a very long time.
