While I agree that it's silly in this day and age to not have flex scheduling for the one CBS night game I do miss the old days when every game time was set at the start of the year and you knew weeks in advance when you needed to get to campus to make kickoff.
It sucks arse when they make you wait until the week of only to end up with an 11am kick.

Fixed it for you. A bigger issue is that LSU has always been the team that has gotten the CBS primetime game. Before Bama-LSU, it was LSU-Florida getting the primetime game every year. Hell, the only time I remember LSU not getting a primetime game in the last ten years was 2010 when the primetime game went to Bama/Florida.

game was CBS' highest rated game last year. Until the game loses interest, CBS will set the game most likely to result in $$$, and that has been the LSU/Bama game the past several years

well they have to set the game prior to the season. LSU and Alabama were both preseason top 5 teams. No one expected LSU to fire Les Miles 4 weeks into the season

well that's all contractual with CBS and ESPN. They deviated once in 2011 to get the LSU/Bama game set for primetime, but they had to pay ESPN out the arse and give them the #1 game the following week to make that happen

2010 and 2011 Alabama/Florida games were both primetime CBS. CBS paid ESPN to have the 2011 LSU/Bama game in primetime. LSU/Florida were primetime in 2007-2009. And LSU/Bama has been primetime 2012-present. Believe Tenn/Florida was primetime in 2005, not sure about 2006
