I think they're required to play each other annually
Not sure if thats still the law, but in 1952 the state legislature did pass a law requiring Carolina and Clemson to play each other annually.

We need to just add the inevitable next two schools already and get this stupidity over with. Of course then Alabama might actually have to play real competition to get a shot at titles so I'm not holding my breath.

The real answer might be the 6-0-3. In that format, you'd play every team in the other division in 4 years, and the longest you'd go without playing a specific team is 3 years.

How about 6-1-1 for Alabama/Tennessee and Auburn/Georgia and 6-0-2 for everybody else?
How often would everybody cycle then for the 6-0-2 group?
Nobody's ever presented that, but they keep throwing that option out there.
Unfortunately, if you did the split rotations, you're going to hear MORE complaints about the unbalanced scheduling.
ex.:
UF
2016 - Ala./Ark.
2017 - Aub./LSU
2018 - Miss./MSU
2019 - TA&M/Ala.
2020 - Ark./Aub.
2021 - LSU/Miss.
2022 - MSU/TA&M
2016 - Aub./Ala.
2017 - Aub./Ark.
2018 - Aub./LSU
2019 - Aub./Miss.
2020 - Aub./MSU
2021 - Aub/TA&M
As you can see, by the time we cycle through the entire other division once, Florida will have done it TWICE the following year. In other words:
UGA - 6 years/1 cycle
UF - 7 years/2 cycles
That sound like a good plan?

I'ld LOVE to do pod scheduling. Would make for an interesting time.
& you could alternate the pods each year for new "divisions" (2016 - A/B vrs. C/D; 2017 - A/C vrs. B/D; 2018 - A/D vrs. B/C).

You're basically insulting LSU with this comment. What's funny is you're bitching about us not having to play an 8-5 Georgia team or a 4-8 Florida team this past season.
