has anybody ever seen a team that just last year was in the national championship game, and then was this mediocre?? i cant think of one..

LSU in 2008 was pretty disappointing, all things considered.
Nebraska was in the national title game in 2001 (albeit undeservedly) and then went 7-7 in 2002.
