It may be next year, but more likely 2021. The biggest reason he might not take it is the difficulty in recruiting, but his name alone makes that easier.

I would agree with you, but there’s something about elite coaches’ minds that doesn’t work the way ours do. They often want the hardest (seemingly impossible) job because it’s the biggest challenge.
Reviving the biggest dumpster fire in the country and returning them to 90s form would be probably seen as the biggest accomplishment in college football history.
We all know UTk is a sleeping (maybe comatose) giant.

he left UF and tOSU and he is going to backtrack to a program that needs major rebuilding. If he has options why not take USC.
And what makes people think his health is going to allow him to stay for a long time. It is not like he is a young man anymore.

Not sure Bill Belichick could rebuild VOLS at this point. Hopefully they turn Neyland into the worlds largest cock fighting arena so the fine citizens of East TN will have quality entertainment on Saturday nights.
