I think hes pretty dirty, just an opinion obviously; but I think most feel this way.
I like the guy though, hes just playing the game....

If Knight coached today, he would probably try as hard as possible to avoid dirty AAU players, but he would probably lose, as well.

Knight didn't really do anything of note at Texas Tech besides a Sweet 16 appearance, because he didn't really recruit hotshot players. Despite his grizzled and angry coaching style, the man gives a ton of money to his universities (basically built Texas Tech a new library) and cares a lot about his players getting an education.
Trent Johnson is a coach like that and it's hurting him currently because he doesn't want to "employ" the AAU pimps.
