Out of curiosity...what is your definition of elite? because we are the reigning National Champions in football. So what is the definition?
Currently only two schools can make that claim. Alabama and Clemson. Alabama is unwavering and Clemson is fading fast.
I hate Alabama with a passion, but I give them their just due. UGA is not elite.

Baby steps I guessUGA isn’t crap, they are just not full spectrum elites that too many UGA fans see them as. Monken is a terrible OC, the O is (being polite) average, Kirby seems to not trust either. At QB he wants a safe low risk low reward guy and will not adjust to modern systems until he has to. UGA recruits at a high enough level and benefits from a soft schedule to allow them to win a bunch of games and they were fortunate to avoid a let down game last year. That allowed to to capitalize and get a playoff spot without winning a conference title. They did it purely on defensive depth.
They overcame that, caught quite a few breaks and broke the 40 year curse. It is what it is. They were a deep good defensive team. If they could get a decent OC and Kirby leave the O alone they might be able to be more than once a half century type program. Do you see Kirby actually letting a 5* future NFL QB develop and make mistakes while learning and growing? I don’t. I see him recruit them and then watch them leave every year.

We were this year. And Tennessee is a long way from elite, so there is that.

I actually agree with this and he seems much more mature than many of the football fans for both teams about it. I’m kinda happy for him. Playing for his dads alma mater, playing with his little bro, now a pro. Good on him.

What breaks? I mean, I guess Alabama injuries was a break, but then we overcame a ton of our own, so it kind of evens out.
And, for the record? Tennessee is not that far off of a 40 year drought. I men, I'm not sure we have ever gone through a 24 year drought for an SEC title. That must hurt.
Got to hand it to you, though. As bad as Tennessee has been you have stuck with them. Can't be easy to find nothing but futility for that long on even a conference level.
