Problem now is that if JJ doesn't get Pearl it will look like he failed.

Amazing to think we could have the second best coach in the SEC tomorrow.

However, he added that it would be a football school that also cares a lot about basketball too which probably disqualifies Auburn.

I mean, their facilities upgrade indicates they care a little.

Brand new facilities means more than just arena. Our practice facilities are elite level right now for bball including multiple courts, weight room and other stuff just for basketball attached to the arena.

Shame that we clearly didn't use all this the past four years

So do y'all, as fans want him? Haven't kept up. I think I would want him, if it improves the team.

He is a bit overrated by this board, but would still be a massive hire for them nonetheless. The turn around job he did at Tennessee was extremely impressive. The reason I wanted him so bad at Alabama is the fact that he has the type of enthusiasm to get people excited about basketball and help the program get out of the shadow of the football program.

Don't see how a guy who consistently took Tennessee to sweet sixteen and an elite 8 after they fell into obscurity is overrated. He played UF extremely well too.

He got UT excited about bball, had their best stretch of bball probably in history and built a foundation that A guy like Martin can coast on. Don't see how it is overrated

Also, Auburn barely deserves hiring the local high school coach. Getting a guy with demonstrated success is a huge win for us. Don't underestimate the shitshow that is out bball program.

They went to 1 elite eight and 2 sweet 16's. They also flamed out in the 1st round twice. Nothing phenomenal.

The guy had a losing record to Billy Gillispie.

Saying dumb shite like this is why I say he is overrated.

Ya he was saying overrated on this board, but a definite upgrade for the program. Just wondering how the fans feel, seems to be some mixed feelings.

Tennessee was on a 5 year absence from the tourney and had no real history. Pearl built a program that made it every year he was there and had more success than ever before in school history. Hard to argue with those results

Also I was joking with second best but he would be in discussion if he made aubie a winner / to tourney

Yeah great fit for a school like Auburn or Alabama, but I have seen "imagine what Kentucky could do with a guy like Bruce Pearl" way too many times on this site

They play in an NBA arena and a pretty talent rich state. Pat Summit was selling out women's basketball games so the support was there.
