Well, from their schedule last season the following teams had more talent.
UGA, Bama, Clemson, LSU, Florida. That's their four toughest opponents plus UF. They won all but 1 of those games.
SC was 2 spots behind them with more 5-stars. Pretty close to a wash in terms of team talent. They lost that one obviously.
I'd say it's fair to say UT played above their talent level, but also false to say that most of their games were against more talented teams.
