Your opinion seems level headed and rational.

He does seem to fit the mold, but I think he is more talented than many of the haters want others to believe. Doesn't his sister play volleyball at UF?

Well, I've followed both players for a while, since we recruited both.

And the fact is Bradley Beal won the national player of the year, and Austin Rivers didn't. And it was deserved, objective observers agree. Just watch both players demeanor while they play, and you would agree.

I think that person hates Rivers because he was once committed to Florida.

She does.

We hate him because he scorned us. However, when his HS team (Winter Park) played on TV I wasn't that impressed. Seemed to take way too many bad/questionable shots and wasn't impressive at all on his drives. He seems weak.

I would have loved to have him but I suppose he didn't want to compete for playing time against Beal or Rosario.

Good god I hope you are joking. If a b-ball recruit picks Duke over FL, its because it is freaking Duke.

I think he was very talented for a high school kid at penetrating and breaking down the d. He has a good (not great yet) shooter's touch and high basketball IQ.

He may have shot too much, but Winter Park wasn't loaded with a bunch of other talented players. He also looked like he had gotten bigger/stronger when I recently saw him in the HS dunk contest. He also appeared to be more explosive in that dunk contest than the games I had seen him play at the beginning of the season.

Partially joking. Partially not. He switched from UF to Duke. He always had the Duke offer.

Why the change? Duke is Duke for sure. You don't think Beal had anything to do with it at all???

I also think Daddy Rivers was worried that BD had lost his touch. Truthfully, it was probably a combination of all the above.

Maybe, but I doubt it had much to do with it. You don't think Duke is going to have a bunch of talented guys to compete with? I know Florida was a strong contender, but Duke was also always the front runner once he decommitted. I think he changed because he realized he committed too soon. I also don't doubt that BD lost a little luster and that may have played a role as well.

I don't hate Rivers, and yes his sister played volleyball at UF.

He was committed to FL for a little bit, and changed his mind when Florida had the NIT, early leaving, weak teams. Beal was solid to Florida, and that was a factor when he had not commited to Duke. Rosario didn't help matters, but Billy was not going to be left with a thin backcourt again (our problem last year).

I have no animosity towards the kid. His demeanor in the court, is of a brat. He is looking at the refs constantly to get foul calls, and has a me first mentality when he plays. Definitely fits better at Duke, and not at Florida. Beal doesn't force his shots. His FG percentage is out of this world because the kid doesn't force anything, and gets his team mates involved. He fits perfectly at Florida.

Yeah, Coach K preaches a me first attitude and Duke players are always complaining to the refs. Are you serious? Austin does play like a brat, I'll admit that, but maybe that is why Doc pushed him to Duke, so that he would be challenged to drop that act.
