: For Alabama basketball, was the price worth the cost?

For many, 2023 Alabama will be remembered for one thing above all else and that is the shooting death of Jamea Harris that involved players on the team. Who cares about a game, really, compared to that? A fully loaded Alabama team went out in the Sweet 16 once again, but a game of basketball will not be what chases this team and the University of Alabama into the offseason and beyond.

quote:

Decisions have consequences, as Alabama football coach Nick Saban said earlier this week. He was talking about his own team’s problems involving drugs and a gun, but his candid wisdom underscored the importance of choice.

quote:

How the University of Alabama reacted to that tragedy is a stain on the school. Choices were made, and they need to be questioned. No one ever wants to see a season end with a team surrounded by crisis management professionals in the locker room.

What kind of dumb bs is this? Explain.

Gladly. And look - I'm not saying they made a good decision. Far from it. But I've been in enough board-rooms, at smaller companies running less than a couple hundred employees, to know how this goes.

They wanted to play Brandon Miller. So a bunch of manager types sit down, and it's basically a mutual bullshite session. No different than, back in the day, us all getting our lie straight before we get caught.

Everything Alabama did, regarding Brandon Miller, was based on the notion that - since he wasn't charged - they HAD to play him. That's going to be their play as this goes forward, until Brandon Miller walks off their campus and into the NBA.

They all bullshitted each other into believing that mutual lie. That's how things work at that level. They chose poorly. And I suspect they chose based upon legal counsel ... because, again, lawyers are pretty blind when it comes to anything outside a court of law. They don't consider the court of public opinion.
