none of those are in the midwest.

Missouri and Kentucky are 'border' states, and Arkansas is SOUTH, even NWA.

The discussion in this thread has gotten into culture and tradition, something we may care about --> but not driving the superconference/playoff/market battles.

Mike Slive (and CBS/ABCESPN) care about brand and market reach and TV ratings/$$$.

Also, does UTa, OU, FSU and ND in the same conference not affect the power conferences' respective TV deal$ down the line...

Yes, you are correct. I was originally thinking about how the conferences were with the old alignment. The Big Twelve would be better than the SEC if you take away WVU and add A&M and Mizzou (while subsequently taking them from the SEC) but that's different now.
