Any tie breaker that doesn't take into acoount that Vandy had to forfeit to the Hogs is BS

It's true Bama should go in this situation no doubt, but I don't think Arky would to win by 2 tds for that to happen. Good thing too since there's no way that will happen.

this ignores reality really. when it comes down to the nth tiebreaker you do have some interest in promoting the team with the best chance of getting into a BCS NCG

and the pollsters and computers are all over the country anyway

We have a tie breaker already in place and we must live with it for now. However with that said I would rather go with an on the field tie breaker by using point differential in the head-to-head match ups. This must be capped at say 21 points, for instance.....
team A beats team B by 14 points, then team B beats team C by 6 points, and then team C beats team A by 17 points.
So end up with
team A at +14-17=-3
team B at -14+6=-8
team C at -6+17=+11
So team C wins. This is obviously a rule that could be placed before the BCS rule as it now reads.
