This is not true. The best ever doesn’t sit on the bench for 2 years.
Yeah, because no all-time greats have ever had to wait their turn. Don't be ridiculous trying to prove your point.

He sat behind TJ Yeldon, TJ Yeldon, for not 1 but 2 years at Alabama, he had one 1000 yard season. He sat behind DeMarco Murray for 2 season and wasn’t the starter at the beginning of his 3rd season. HW was the guy on any field in every college game he played.
Lots of greatest all time college running backs don’t start their first 2 seasons in the NFL, or even into their 3rd Season.
Walker was the foundation of entire pro league….albeit a terrible idea.

Jamal Lewis. Next question.

Bo Jackson
Herschel Walker
Derrick henry
Emmitt Smith
kevin faulk
Darren McFadden
Shaun Alexander
Charles Alexander
James Brooks
Todd Gurley
Mark Ingram
You aint in the SEC yet. Nobody counts until you're here. Ricky belongs in the Big 12 conversation for sure.
So does Earl in the SWC. Gary Anderson is one of the best backs I ever saw but that was in Arkies SWC days.

It’s Herchel and Bo then like 10 guys you can put in any order after that

The burden is on you to find the best Evers who waited 79% of the time.

If you don’t like the term P5, UGA played only SEC, ACC, PAC 10, & SWC teams.
Walker did in any 2 seasons what Henry did in his career. The greatest RB in SEC history doesn’t sit the bench.
Georgia’s offense averaged 130, 160, & 90 yards passing in Walker’s time. Walker was running into a wall of 11 guys who knew he was getting the ball. And he was still the best player in college football.
Vandy is a P5 team, major conference team, or any other way you want to put it.
Why can't you name specific teams? In 1980, Georgia played only 1 ranked team all year, Notre Dame in your bowl game. We'll use time of game rankings, be nice and say 3 even though end of year it was 1.
In 1981, Georgia played 1 all year, and lost. Georgia also lost to Clemson who was unranked.
In 1982, Georgia played Clemson who was ranked #11(eventual NC, which is why end of year rankings matter), and then Georgia lost to the only other ranked team they played, #2 Penn St.
So Walker played a total of 6 ranked teams in 3 years. Henry played 9 ranked teams in 2015 alone.
Aside from that. Apparently, you think the only way to be the best RB is when all other 10 players on your team are dedicated towards you running the ball.
Do you think Georgia didn't have a passing game because the players in that department were just terrible, or do you think it's because they recruited players to support the run and blocking was valued more than route running?

But that was the final game.
Look. Believe what you want. I don't care. It's time to go watch TV with the wife.
You played #7 Notre Dame in a bowl game. Stop trying to exaggerate it.
That's ok. You don't believe the game has changed from 1980 to 2020. That's all I need to know.

If the game changing has made it easier, why aren't many players out there breaking the record?

Nobody is denying Henry had a great year. But calling him the greatest RB in SEC history is too far, when he had two other years that were very ordinary in comparison. Herschel was THE focus for three years and he withstood the pressure, never losing an SEC game.
The SEC wasn't what it is now back then. In the 3 years Walker was at Georgia, I don't think he played a single ranked SEC team using end of year rankings.
Plus, the SEC schedule was like 6 games total.

Some of those never played in the SEC you git

Hershel and Bo..,

I think if you're strictly looking at college only, it's Walker.
If you're talking about a "career" from HS to college to the NFL... it's Henry.

Jamal Lewis had arguably the best single season as a RB in NFL history. Putting Ingram over him is a freakin joke.

Sorry, I didn’t mean for it to come off as a dig, but the fact is he would have won the Heisman and several other schools. It was just a fact.

He actually outrushed Yeldon in his sophomore year (990 yards vs. 979 yards) despite being second string.

So what? Barry Sanders only had one 1,000+ yard season after sitting behind Thurman Thomas for two seasons. His first season he rushed for just over 100 yards and his second season he rushed for less than 600 yards. It wasn't until his junior season that he cemented his legacy.

This is about what they did in college and, when you take what the two of them did at their respective universities, Ingram far eclipses Lewis in just about every major statistic.
