Where's ND?

I mean Brian Kelly made a NC game and lost, seems to be the qualifier to grant elite status.

Pearl in DII as a HC. Gus was the HC, or so most of the gumps said, when Coach Chiz was our HC. Either way, they both have won NC's.

If you're going to claim as assistant coaches then Auburn doesn't even have the best duo in the SEC. That would be Florida.

Well, if you disagree with that, I'll replace them with the distant #6, UNC's Williams/Fedora. I hate to do that because, while I think Fedora is going to be good, he has struggled a bit at UNC (though he was growing extremely promising at Southern Miss) so far and doesn't quite rate plaudits yet. But Williams can probably carry the duo for now. Then UCLA will probably come next.

As I said, the drop-off is very steep after the top 5.

Linking Clay Travis should be automatic bannage the way it was for Bleacher Report back in the day.

Was I asleep when Pearl was dominating college basketball or something? Don't get me wrong its a great hire, but dammit man.
frickin' this. This is being incredibly over-hyped, but I guess we have to let the aubies learn that painful lesson on their own.

it was a slam dunk hire but don't use Clay Travis as your source material - that's dumb

Not exactly true. They watched it a bit during the early-to-mid '80s , when the Round Mound and the first Person were there. They found it confusing and wondered why the Round Mound didn't have more sacks, but they at least made the effort, bless their hearts.

Well, if you disagree with that,
You think a coach that went 4-8, who is #1 on coacheshotseat.com, and who is 22-16 overall as a HC with no championships whatsoever deserves to be included as one of the 5 best coaching duo's in the country?

We're talking duos here, and are using situational/relative values, not absolute ones. So the discussion has to proceed accordingly. There just wasn't a 6th university that could reasonably pass them.

Muschamp had a bad year with a team hit heavily by injuries (see, you have to actually follow football, not google W/L records) following an 11-2 campaign. Add him to Donovan and, yeah, I think it's one of the top 5 coaching duos in the country. Name a better one not on the list I provided.
