Food for thought....if Benny Snell had Alabama's front line instead of D. Harris...what would you say then?
Damian Harris has averaged 6.7 YPA for his career and 7.3 YPA the last 2 seasons. If Snell did that he'd be impressive.

He’s been in the sec for 10 years

If D. Harris has Kentucky's O line the last two years.....
you wouldn't know his name.....

Based on what, exactly? He was a 5-star receuot who has lived up to the billing of a 5-star recruit.
And, on top of that, his yards after contact average was the best in college football last year per PFF. That has nothing to do with his offensive line.
Harris is actually probably the 1st major Alabama running back of the Saban era to be underrated instead of the other way around.

Allow me to go slow......a running back depends on blockers...and if those blockers are all 5 star (alabama) as opposed to 3 star (kentucky) you have better numbers but are not necessarily a better running back....
Caprice?

So 5-stars are better than 3-stars? Is that your point? Because it seems to be how you drew the conclusion re: offensive line strength, so I assume it also applies to running backs.

This is one of those thread in which the OP asks a question but he really just wants to hear the answer he believes is true.

On average..yes. But the point is....one must factor in the entire team when judging one particular player. You can have the greatest passer in the world....and have receivers that drop the ball. But you still have the best passer.....

To be fair, those 3 star O-lineman are blocking for a 3 star RB

against usually 4-5 star defenses....

Yeah we all understand. The counterpoint is just because he plays behind a solid OL doesn't automatically mean his performance is solely because of his OL (which has been good but not great for his 3 years, FYI).
As I pointed out, his yards after contact numbers were the best in America last year. That has zero to do with having a 5-star OL and everything to do with his individual talent.
You want to feel good about losing an in-state 5-star to Alabama and feel like you still got a better player. Go ahead I guess, but Harris has been a stud for us and has lived up to his ranking. He's going to have a massive year this year.

So what's your point? Your 3 star RB gets stuffed vs 4-5 star defenses. If he was good enough to be at Bama maybe we'd know the answer to your hypothetical.

I would argue that a 3 star running back using 3 star O line going against a 4-5 star defense and getting those numbers....is empirically better than a 5 star RB with a 5 star Offensive line going against a 3 star defense.
In other words have Snell and Harris switch teams....and Snell is better.

You'd argue that because you're stupid. Harris was a higher rated recruit who puts up better numbers because he was good enough to play for a good team.

What’s the long answer?
Harris and Swift are the first that come to mind. Snell is more on the level of Aeris Williams than those two.
