It's amazing how many communists and socialists there are in this thread. Most of the people on this board advocate on the Politics Board for the government to cut programs that aren't pulling their weight. Here we have an obvious program that is not pulling its weight (UAB football), and for some reason you want to keep it running. You guys are either the biggest hypocrites on the internet or you are so blinded by your hate for Alabama that you can't see the forest through the trees.

My family members graduated from the University of Alabama Medical and Dental schools and and happy their diplomas say as such.
Since the change the diplomas say University of Alabama at Birmingham.
They say they are Unviersity of Alabama alums, not UAB and feel it should not be UAB but the University of Alabama.
BTW, there is no such school named UAT. The Unviersity of Alabama is just that.

Wrong that's counted gameday attendance. UAB doesn't even do the attendance numbers.

If that's all that can viably support themselves, absolutely.

UAB football isn't self sustaining now because they can't get approved for the resources they need to compete.

If you start a busines how successful will it be if you can't get a loan and only have the resources for out of date, hand me down equipment and a location that nobody will go to? It's the same principle

WTF? Speak English, OK?

At least half of UAB's season ticket sales are paid for by the Birmingham City Council and given away for free, not bought and paid for by fans, boosters, or alumni. What's so complicated about that for you to grasp?

Serious question. Where does UAB's athletic funding come from? Could that money be directed towards UA's athletic fund if UAB didn't have athletics? If so, then I'm all for shutting their program down.

I was talking about attendance, actual people that show up for games dumbass. Nobody needs to buy season tickets in a 80,000 seat stadium.

C-USA tv deals, bowl games, NCAA basketball credits, entrance and exit fees from other CUSA teams.

You are a bad poster. Your post on this website are bad. I wish you wouldn't post anymore. Please stop.

I hope you were looking in the mirror when you posted that. so far everything I have seen you post on this subject is complete horseshite. UAB had a plan to fund a new stadium without a dime of UA system $ & still got shot down. this has been brewing since the jimbo fisher deal and will end in a nasty divorce. UAB folks see legal separation on the horizon, UA folks dont think they can pull it off. guess we will find out soon.

A bank isn't going to loan millions to a small start up. They are going to give you a little and see how the return is. Then later if you show growth you'll get the bigger loans, if not the bank is going to see it as a bad investment and stop loaning.

If you're not following. UAB is the start up and UA is the bank. Time to stop loaning.

There are only 2 schools in the country that don't use state money for their athletic department.

1. Nebraska
2. LSU

Going to be a short football season.

Maybe their donors/ alumni should step up. I know they have cut academic programs so that should help. I think regions field is available for fall events if the venue is an issue.

You obviously don't get it. A program needs season ticket sales to guarantee revenue, forecast revenue, etc. If you actually were a supporter, you would get that.

Wasn't last week's thread about just that? The alumni and boosters were trying to get an athletic fund so that can avoid the BOT. Less than a week later the BOT is trying to shut them down.

Sounds like a great time for those alumni and boosters to step up.
