He will not be covering slot this year and I also disagree that the two above teams exploited him more so than any other bama DB

Look for him to follow the same trajectory as HaHa
1st year - mop-up and ST
2nd year - dime package start of year; full time by end of year
3rd year - starter

I can't think of a single situation where I'd rather have Vinnie on the field than Collins.

Many fans think that way, but the man making the call will have him on the field.

He has more physical talent than Clinton-Dix ,doesn't he?
Posted on 6/22/13 at 10:17 pm to Rickdaddy4188
Not necessarily.. HCD is elite as well.

LC is stocky with legit elite track speed. Dix isn't as physically gifted as LC. For sure Vinnie isnt

Vinnie is a 91 on some video game so the answer is no.

I don't doubt LC has the physical tools. The other two have proven the know the defense, LC will also need to show that. When he does he will still be behind the other two while at Bama. He may be better than both before its over but it's all about timing(who is ahead) when it comes to getting playing time.
Dareus, Trent, CJ Mosely , etc... are just some examples of guys playing behind less talented guys.

Yes, but HCD is no slouch.
LC26's 40 time could be anywhere from 4.37-4.45, and his vert is around 44 inches iirc.
If Collins doesn't start in base, he'll still play a lot of the time. Vinnie may have the edge in experience, and as just a SS and Money he isn't a liability, but Collins and HaHa can take away the deep ball completely.

I didn't mean it as a slight. There aren't many athletes with LC's size and speed in all of CFB.

Some times Vinnie is a liability in coverage, but he is an asset in run support. He just doesn't have the hips to turn and run. I think LC will probably have more snaps as the year goes on.

I'd say the argument could be made that LC is like a Safety version of PP7 in terms of pure ability, still gotta see what he does in game time, but if he even plays to a fraction of his potential next to HaHa, opposing offenses YPA will be very low. LC26

PP is about 15-20 lbs bigger ( or he was)but the comparison is a good one. What's LC listed at now? 205?

True, but I'm not really convinced that LC wouldn't be just as good in run support, he's fairly stocky, and more of an athlete, so in theory he can get to the ball carrier quicker than Vinnie. Either way, I think Sunseri might start the VT game, but I expect LC to be starting by mid season and Vinnie to just play Money.
Nick Perry should get some PT though. He wasn't very good last year, but he had a really good spring and seems more confident, possible that we see a big rotation back there.

I'd say he's between 210-217.

I agree. That's why I was saying that LC will get the majority of snaps by mid season or later in the season. I think LC would be able to give versatility to the position.
