My thought is that they’re mad DeBoer isn’t proactive or forward thinking enough to capitalize on these dumb rulings. They used to be the program that led the way and pioneered change but not anymore.

In reality, if the situation were reversed, & Bama
Signed former LSU players who failed in the NFL
AFTER signing with an agent, you'd blow your wad
Over it. But since it's LSU, your cool with it. Doesn't matter in the long run anyhow. A 1st year starter at QB named Russell is going to ruin your
Night. Guaranteed.

They haven't said much about DeBoer acknowledging that Bama may add pro players.
I guess that's different.

Some schools have begun trying to bring in players who were already on NFL rosters, including LSU, which is pursuing tight end Dae’Quan Wright. More are sure to join, and on Monday, Kalen DeBoer acknowledged that Alabama could be interested.
quote:
“(Athletics director) Greg Byrne’s communicating with me and us about just what we can and can’t do,” DeBoer told reporters when asked about the possibility. “There’s a possibility out there of someone that was on our roster in the past.

The “signed with an agent” comments are moot now. Sophomores in high school have agents and PR teams these days. The key here is “paid to pay professionally.” Neither of the guys that signed with LSU signed a guaranteed NFL contract therefore forfeiting 100% of the money the second they signed the waiver.
Is it sketchy and a loophole? Yes.
Is it like Badiako? Hell no. That dude spent 3 years being paid in the G League.
