I think other teams exaggerate Alabama's sense of self importance so they'll have something else to gripe about.
Most fans I know aren't saying it's because of Alabama. Whatever it is was building up, and the SECCG, whomever they played, was the tipping point. It just so happens it was Alabama, who just so happens to have a coach threatening his Alpha. That is, if in fact, it was anxiety.
There's a big difference between that, and say, Alabama is arrogant. There's a bit of psychology involved.
