They both have the best talent and coaching in the league right now. It pains me to say that about the Gumps but it's true.

Arkansas has some talent but I see them dropping a game or 2 this year that they haven't in years past

I can't seem to find the part where you talk about Bobby Petrino getting fired for giving crash and burn motorcycle rides to whores.
Sorry you don't see that. Guess I will have to connect the dots for you. Petrino not being there will play a role in my statement above

So you're saying Arky will lose 5 games?

I think 5 is a stretch but 3 or 4 could be very possible

I have Arky losing to Bama/LSU, and a toss up with Aubie.

Bama looks like a team that is rebuilding on defense much like 2 years ago. They lost some studs on an incredible defense. Do most think they plug in new guys and don't miss a beat? I just don't buy that. Would not want a part of them later in the season after they have time to gel.. This years team has the look of 2010 and poss 2-3 losses.
If 6-7 plays go a different way than Bama could have had another undefeated regular season that year. Remember the Iron Bowl? Up 24-0? Remember Garcia playing out of his mind? Remember J Lee coming in and not choking for once against Bama? Alabama was leading in the 4th.
This year could be 2-3 losses or could be none.

quote:No. Most of the guys who are replacing last year's starters have had significant playing time. They'll be fine.

LSU lost some studs on D as well.
In other words, enjoy 3rd place in the west.

Fair enough. Do you feel the guys stepping in will fill every void? Where will they be better? Where will they be worse

Bama Has not had a 5 star bust since 08. Every single 5 star has lived up to the billing since then. Most have been 3 and done players. Richarson,Kirkpatrick,Fluker, Nico Johnson from the 09 class were all 5 stars and all have been all-sec, multi- year impact players. Even the most recent 5 stars from 2011 and 2012 look to be legitimate so far. Cyrus K being the best from 2011 and TJ Yeldon being the best of 2012. Though Landon Collins will have his say.
Losses don't really hurt Bama when they develop players better than everyone and bring in 4 to 5 instant impact players in every recruiting class.
Bama dominated every single team they played last year including LSU. State was the only team they didn't beat by 3tds. There is a huge gap right now and the losses Bama had will close the gap some, but not enough.

quote:Talent-wise, yes. Leadership-wise, I dunno. When Rolando McLain left, the biggest issue was leadership. The talent was there in the defensive guys in 2010, but they lacked any on-field leadership. Last year, they had Hightower. This year, I have no idea... maybe CJ will step up as the leader.
Do you feel the guys stepping in will fill every void?
In short, I have faith in the D's overall talent. My only concern is with leadership, but we'll know if that's an issue when Bama plays Meeeechigan.
ETA: Leadership. Leadership leadership leadership. Leadership.

Just pick one. First he says it's about having the best players but then it's about developing players the best.
The total awesomeness is just too confusing for me I suppose.

Cool. There is not doubt about the talent. The chemistry and leadership will def be the deal maker or breaker. I also wonder with playing experience of the new starters
Thank goodness football is getting close. Love to watch it all unfold

quote:I wanted to go all full gumptard troll and say, "That's what happens when your team is so fricking awesome", but truthfully it's kinda funny. A lot of this supergumpness was nonexistent during the Shula/Dubose/Franchionjknoisnoinfne years. It's like all of us Bama fans have collectively erased those shitty memories from our minds and there's just a gap between Gene Stallings and Saban of nothingness.

Inb4 that gap is called "vacated wins"
