I'm certainly no meteorologist but from what I've read scientists have largely failed to find a significant correlation between terrain and the EF rating of a tornado.

Partially true.

Really there hasn't been enough research on it. Also, I think if they ever found that there's something to it they would never talk about it.

Technically, a tornado could hit anywhere, but I doubt a meteorologist would ever say "this is in the mountains, so there is no little to no threat".

FWIW, I believe there is a lot to it. On 4-27 it was weird seeing the same towns that seem to always be called out being called out on the same day. Being from North Alabama, we know that Cullman and the area between Decatur and Athens are always in the firing line.

The same can be said for Tuscaloosa. I have lived in Tuscaloosa for just over ten years and have seen significant damage from 4 different tornados.

I'm not smart enough, nor do I have near enough time, but there is a reason that some places get more than others.

Several counties under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings now.

Including 2 separate warnings for my county.

Rotation outside of Hot Springs as well.

well this we know for fact. a tornado will walk up one side of a mtn and walk right down the other side. leaving a path of destruction. as evidenced by last april, right here in the area where i live.

That shite is weird. There's a small town in western Arkansas called Mena that qualifies as being "in the mountains" but it has been hit 3 times by tornados in the last 15 years.
