Let me know how many mattresses I need to cover my dog in the bathtub.
I'm planning on it being a one mattress storm, but I am prepared for a two mattress storm.

I live in Inverness. I have a closet without windows and if I need to go hide that is my designated spot. I'm not expecting it to be that bad, but you never know sometimes. That shite in Tuscaloosa really opened a lot of eyes I think.

You should be fine. Usually in that part of town, the straight line winds and hail are the worst. The terrain helps out a lot.
Just watch James Spann.

Yeah. Too many mountains for a tornado to pick up much steam.

It better not! My mustang is only a few months old.

Speaking of Spann, I recommend his (and others) blog to keep up with stuff. They do a really great job.

Storms will fire in the next couple of hours in this region from Shreveport to Little Rock and Memphis and move quickly northeast. These storms will be supercells and will have a significant tornado producing potential. The potential supercells will continue pushing east overnight across northern Mississippi. Some of those supercells could get into Northwest Alabama after 10 p.m. tonight.
Eventually the storms will congeal into a powerful squall line ahead of a cold front that will push into Alabama late tonight. Hopefully the supercells will merge into that squall line before they have a chance to get into Alabama late tonight (after midnight). It now looks like that powerful line of storms will reach Northwest Alabama around 3 a.m., Jasper around 4:30 a.m., Tuscaloosa around 6 and Birmingham around 7. Do not take these times as gospel though as those times will likely change

are there any parking spaces that are more sheltered than any others? If so, I'd move it to one of those just to be safe. If not, it takes a LOT of hail to make dents.

I guess you have never seen softball size hail haha.

Not really. I may go move it to a spot closer to the building and hope the wind is coming from the right direction.

I had golfball sized hail hit my car at the Summit last summer for a good 40 minutes. I was convinced it was going to be covered in dings, and was shocked that there was no damage. I moved my car under a tree, and upwind. Don't know if that helped or not, but I thought for sure I was going to have dents everywhere.

Stay safe all of you in the line of these storms tonight.

We are about to get some bad weather here, but it won't get really bad until after 11. I don't think we will get what those of you north of us will get.
Stay safe everyone. I hate bad weather that comes in the middle of the night.

They just posted this on James Spann's weather blog.... It's a wall cloud in Marengo County moving toward Perry County. It's weakening, but still looks a little nasty.

Stay safe everyone. Tornado watches/warnings in January are just not normal. I hate this weather.
