Or you could have just left it at Auburn has a much smaller fanbase and save that spiritual ( ), family, mystical bullshite marketing gimmick nonsense for a TV commercial.

Maybe a bit..obviously having a far smaller fanbase than Alabama, but around the same number of grads, equals far fewer sidewalk fans. Also, I think being part of the Auburn "family" or whatever it is that you want to call it, has a lot to do with experiencing Auburn first hand...and being able to relate to others that have as well. I know it sounds cheesy and a little cliche, but for those of us that have, it really does seem kind of magical, and a bit spiritual. Also, sidewalk fans tend to love the football team for itself...grads tend to love the university and the football team as an extension of it. THIS is why the Alabama and Auburn fanbases truly are different.

Holy f'ing shite. :cult:

I'm not so sure I'll ever consider my alma mater to be Disney World or Oz or a place of worship. I mean, it's a fricking college, dude. You're acting like it's Megan Fox's pussy or something.

I wouldn't expect you to understand. I think most Alabama grads, that got into the experience of attending the university would feel the same way. But I can only speak for myself. Maybe the Alabama experience is a lot different than attending Auburn. I wasn't saying THAT is what makes the fans different. Of those that attended either, I don't think the fans are that different. I think the fact that a much lower % of Alabama fans have this perspective, only loving the football program, is what makes the fanBASES different.

Well sorry to hear that from you Bama fans. It's been one of the coolest experiences I've had. I suppose this is like trying to explain to someone that hasn't had kids, what it's like to be a parent. You can't understand it unless you have experienced it. But no, no unicorns at Auburn. Poor choice of words maybe...but it is a special place and the experience of being a part of it is very special. I'm glad that I don't feel like "it's just a fricking college", Brad Pitt. And I'm surprised that y'all feel that way about Alabama.

Just giving you a hard time. It was a humorous choice of words.

This.

I love Bama and Tuscaloosa, and it holds a special place in my heart. But calling it mystical and spiritual is a little silly

Something tells me that Auburn and the Aggies are going to eventually come to blows over who's campus more resembles the lyrics from "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".

Coolest experience I ever had =/= spiritual and mystical.

Could you be a little more over the top.

The closest I ever got to mystical or spiritual in my time in school was when Widespread played Coleman Coliseum in 95 and we did acid, ecstasy, and shrooms. Then sometime in the next day or so I realized we had just been real high.

Nice. That's one of the dangers in drug use that people don't talk about. You condition yourself not only to seek out pleasure from drugs, but you also condition yourself NOT to seek out "cool experiences" in the traditional way. It's a lot easier to just get your cool experiences just from drugs than it is to work toward the real stuff.

I love the creed....get goosebumps during the eagle flight, etc... If it makes you feel better about not understanding that to get angry with me, well, that's less destructive than the drugs you listed..so im glad I could help.
