I know that it would be an extremely waste of money and resources to charge someone who might not even live in the state of Alabama. Hell, he might not even live in the United States of America. Just like you say we know nothing about this character, neither do you. He could be some retard from England who discovered this whole thing and decided to have a little fun. Would you be willing to have him extradited to the United States just to answer to charges of obstruction of justice for a fake twitter account?

all speculation. What's known, is that he feigned being the murder suspect and police had to waste resources. The District Atty office feels there could be a case. I have no sympathy for the guy. If they choose not to prosecute, fine. If they do, hope they win. People need to be held accountable for their actions. Whether he intended to waste their manpower or not, he did. Next time he won't be so quick to do so. And it's a misdemeanor, not a felony as some of you have repeated. Probably a fine or community service and expunged record at worst.

I can't confirm or deny. But I'm glad this ended peacefully either way.

My feelling is the da used this statement as a warning to get him to stop tweeting and making light of a tragic situation by putting a fear of punishment out there.

Ding, ding, ding! I think we have a winner! They want him to quit, and to deter anyone else from doing the same thing. Particularly someone who wants to help this guy.

If its not illegal, what the frick business is it of the state to "deter" it?

What is this? Berlin 1936?

And given that there are no facts known, you still think the guy should be prosecuted. That's why you're not looking smart here. Emotional, sure. You hate what the guy did, and you're entitled to feel that way. But your brain (?) should tell you that the very points you are making (speculation, we don't know, yada yada yada) are the very reasons why he CAN'T be prosecuted...yet.

Arresting isn't the same as prosecuting.

Yeah, he's not stupid enough to tweet.

Hope this helps ease the minds of the victims and the victims' families. Won't change their heartache and pain, but knowing he's not out there, hopefully will help some.

It's not speculation to assume that it would be a tremendous waste of time and resources to prosecute this guy.

Like I said last night, this whole situation has made my heart weep. I'm glad it's over and healing can begin now.

True. But this also implies he's not smart enough to smell. This person's spelling and grammar was immaculate.

Plus, the dude's twitter profile pic was the guy's mugshot the police handed out to the media.

Write the DA and tell them your concerns. Perhaps you can explain his job to him. In the meantime, let's all drop it and respect the people who died, and be thankful that Woosie is in custody.

Wow. How stupid can you get? What an idiot.

I'm so glad they've caught him though.

This. Will be a long road for some. Dunno what kind of family he comes from, but hope that somehow, someway, some good can come of this. We don't always understand why some things happen and why they happen to certain people. But, I choose to believe that every situation has an underlying reason under it and hopefully through this tragedy, it will bring some people that didn't have faith to come to have faith and draw families together as a stronger unit.
