I haven't tried Hamilton's but the others are all very good.

We ate at The Local in Waverly one night last week and had a great meal. The bacon wrapped okra (appetizer) was on point.

You are not getting into any of the nicer restaurants because they are booked weeks in advance for gameday weekends. Try Opelika....

The new food hall right next to AU Hotel on campus (it’s not a typical food court, more like a food market hall with lots of options - it also has a brewery attached but it’s not open yet).

I’ve only been to The Hound, where I had shrimp and grits and got talked into some drink called a Ranch Water something-or-other with jalapeños in it
(it sounded like a man’s drink but was embarrassingly girly), Acre and the Chik Fil A on Magnolia. I’m probably not much help.

3 oz silver tequila
1 oz lime juice
Topo Chico (non-negotiable) HAS to be Topo Chico (chilled)
jalapeno - rubbed around the rim of glass
lime wedge

A great summer drink.

Even now it looks good but I guess it was the jalapeño I didn’t like, and I think it had watermelon or some kind of juice in it. My go-to summer drink is simple…vodka soda and a lime wedged squeezed in.

Yeah, no one should "fruity up" a ranch water other than the lime.

Some folks use jalapeno tequila but I don't care for it, Petron Silver is all I need.

Noted. Don’t like sweet fruity drinks. I do like Patron. A friend of mine, LA celebrity photographer Brian Bowen-Smith, just partnered with actress Eva Longoria on a premium tequila brand called Casa Del Sol. Give it a try if you can find it.

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread.

The food scene is pretty good for the size of the town. I have not been to the campus in a while but in the 90s and early 2000s, the bar scene was unimpressive compared to other college towns.

the more upscale bar downtown is the Avalon. There is also one in downtown Opelika called Sneak and Dawdle owned by the Hound owners. They also own Depot which is really cool in downtown Auburn in the old rail depot.
