I think the NBA and CBB differences have a lot to do with length of season. If the NBA season was shorter and had fewer back-to-backs, you'd likely see more guys actually play defense in the regular season. Teams know somebody on the other team is gonna be lazy on defense almost every possession. That's a big part of why the scoring is so much different.

I sure would like a SEC championship in basketball or to win the tournament

Gotta give Auburn credit, Pearl adjusted and got the team on the right track, and they had a season that I would love for Bama to have one day.

That may be valid. Talent still has a huge role though. Scoring in the playoffs is still very high though.
