I agree that it doesn't matter at this point. But what I don't understand is why some AU fans (not all mind you) cannot admit that it was a bad call.

My opinion of the call is it was illegal contact and should have been called as such. As to PI, it was a bang bang play and I just laid out the arguement (the ball being uncatchable with or without the contact due to the deflection) for the reversal. If the play HAD NOT been reversed I WOULD NOT have complained. It could have gone either way IMO. Therefore, all the outrage is really out of line, esp going on two years later. I along with most are tired of it.

It does make a difference.

Surely, the ball was underthrown, but the defender was beat and knew it. He instinctually reacted.

I agree.

My immediate reaction was of disappointment, because for such a hard fought physical game to have its outcome so influenced by a dumb penalty just didn't seem fair.

I can understand that. I think AU did get some breaks in the game. I do not think PI was the correct call on this play. Illegal contact would have been more appropriate.

I responded to you prior to reading your last response, and for that I am sorry.

You are not worthy of one.

Using uncatchable as an explanation on this play is unacceptable. It's like saying the clip was on the other side of the field and that guy couldn't make the tackle, anyway.

There is no defense for a reversal of the PI, without some sort of penalty for the contact prior to the deflection.

There were many reasons LSU lost that game. Auburn being a formidable opponent would be on the top of that list, but I would rather officiating further down the list, or even better, not a factor at all.

I can easily say Richard Murphy was short of a first down by a foot at least, but it was third down. I can also say, Early Doucet was not lined up correctly on Hester's catch and score. But, these incorrect calls or spots had very little to do with the outcome of that game.

The '04 and '06 games were greatly influenced by officials calls.

Then I appologize for my remarks if you found them offensive. You guys seem reasonable and I am probably out of line with you guys. Just understand I am referring more to the LSU fans who have called AU every name in the book and made every accusation possible - just see the post that started this thread, and it gets old after two years of it.

I have all the respect in the world for LSU and I think it should be mutual in the other direction. You would be hard pressed to find me being critical of LSU's team in my 2000+ posts or being critical of the fans EXCEPT in the cases where Auburn is attacked in an inappropriate manner.

That same "official" ripped us off the same year. He said that Chris Leak fumbled the ball even though his arm was going forward with the ball. That play is a fumble anywhere else in the world except Auburn, Alabama.

All of this shite is really moot but the fact is the flag was thrown and then picked up based on the replay. No way any sane person picks up that flag on that play, I don't care who is interpreting the rules.

Apology accepted, but not necessary.

If you can't follow the logic of my reasoning, then you're still not worthy of the explanation.

To summarize this thread:

It was not pass interference, and there is nothing in this thread--or any other thread ever--that shows it.

A pass was thrown, and it was deemed uncatchable (regardless of whether the receiver in question was the subject of any physical contact) by the officials. That alone eliminates pass interference as one of the possible calls, period.

To summarize this thread:

To summarize my post ... All you Barners are a bunch of silly arse losers that talk crap and never back it up when it counts ... you had one "flash in the pan" in 2004 and that was it ... end of career ... LINK

1997 & 2000 ... bitch-slapped by Tenn & Fla.

2004 ... your big hurrah ... 38-28 win over Phat Phil ... Tainted by cheating f-ing refs making bad calls in the LSU game

what did your little frolick accomplish

You go undefeated ... 13-0 ... get "Punked" by the media and lose out at a National Title Shot

Reason: Because you embarassed the SEC when you let these # 8 Ranked USC Condoms beat your # 6 overranked azzes silly in your own house 23-0 a year earlier ... and the crap over the LSU game in 2004 & 2006 and the earlier cigar-smoker game ... call it low-class, bush-league FB tainted by allegations of cheating and lack of sportsmanship befitting of a Championship Team.

LINK

THE SIMPLE FACT IS ... AUBURN WILL ALWAYS BE BUSH-LEAGUE & PATHETIC ... You're not champs, you're chumps ... and losers ... The great SEC programs have had to endure a decade of USC and media spit-swapping horse shite because your FB team is a bunch of crossdressing losers ... The SEC disowns you as nothing more than cheaters and bush-league chop-blockers, coached by a f-ing cigar-smoking, big-eared moron and supported by a bunch of boosters that would do anything to win other than do it with Class & Sportsmanship on the field.

Prepare your sorry azzes for a serious azz whipping in your own house in 2008 ... because YOU deserve it ... & THE SEC deserves it.

Give it a rest man.

AU is great, has been great, and will be great for the foreseeable future. I for one am happy about it. This way it's more impressive when we beat them

Delusional ... True Auburn football showed its colors in a 23-0 pasting by USC ... They're an embarrassment to our league, just like their cigar-smoking coach ... Unforgiven now, unforgiven later, and unforgiven for the foreseeable future
