I commended Gasto saying some good words about our kicker. I mentioned nothing about my opinion on Towns.

OK, so this was a misunderstanding. When Gasto added context I walked back my statement. Please, read the thread before commenting.

Dude, you completely missed on the content of the OP. He clearly was saying that Townes is going to be good and don’t let one bad game cause us to turn on him. You are very wrong here.

Yeah frick that guy

I personally hope everyone keeps blaming the Auburn QB rather than the play calling.

I’m personally happy to assign blame as it’s deserved. There were some bad calls and some poor execution ( just not at the kicker position because if someone on this board’s son went to kicker camp with a player that makes him beyond reproach).

Auburn would have been in a better position if Freeze had taken the 3 points in the 1st quarter. Kicker would have helped with 3 more, but it wasn't the only 3 points Auburn left on the field.

And knowing your QB/team has been turnover prone all year, I think I would have been a bit run heavy to run out the clock.

We are the rant. Can't expect everyone to write perfectly eloquent all the time. I believe there was enough context to leave it alone and listen to your gut as the conversation unfolded. I don't know why posters are hounding you either, after all we cant just believe everything on the internet. The OP handled it fine, so no biggy. Townes had a shitty game that hurt us, but we aint writing him off.

He shouldn't have had an RPO. It should have been run only. That's definitely on the coach. That said, the RPO called for a pass with the defense's alignment and a decent pass had a great chance to be a TD. Thorne didn't throw a decent pass.

Anywho, we agree that we should have only run the ball for the last two series.

Auburn still busy blaming Thorne
they need to be blaming themselves for giving up on Boise Deboer, he was a better coach than Hugh Freeze by a lot

Certainly

Probably, but when provided with decent context I acknowledged and walked it back.

The RPO drive Hunter got us into (fake) FG Range and got winded. Alston got a carry, held the ball with two hands because he is nervous about fumbling, and got stuffed. After that, well maybe we could have called a Thorne run, but Freeze really didn't have a whole lot of options if you don't want a 340 yard passer throwing.

The screen game sucks because we dont block the perimeter very well. We need more screens.

Nope, made them punt off of a 3 and out. Would have been nice to have a touchdown but otherwise wasn’t a bad decision.

In the 1st quarter, you take the points when they are given to you. There is no strategy in leaving points on the field. You had 3 chances to get the TD, you failed. Desperation when none is needed.

And it turned out you kind of needed those 3 points later in the game and could have used completely different strategies to get a win.
