Hey, if you don't like Malzahn, I know of an OC you can have.

True. But most times our QB was bad also. It was hard for Gus to read the D for him from the sideline the entire game.

I thought Todd played well for Au this year.

He did in about half the games.. That's the thing about Malzahn's offense, if the QB doesn't play well you're going to lose..

Honestly, I think you could say that about most systems.....except a Nick Saban team. His teams are about Defense and running the ball, so you can get by with mediocre or poor QB play.

Todd played better than expected. He did a good job of place holding till someone else stepped up. Hopefully Newton, Rollison, or Clint does this year. I think Caudle won't get that shot.

I don't like the fact (well actually i do) that ya'll do not line up under center and run any type of traditional power Offense inside the 10. The field is compressed and the fancy smancy stuff just seems to not get it done, when you only need 2-3 yeards for a TD or a 1st.

Malzahn's system depends on the play-action to run/pass well, so if the QB isn't throwing the ball well it's easy for the D to sell out on the run.. But Malzahn could have cured these bad days for Todd with a lot more screens/short passes.. This is where I don't agree with Malzahn's play calling..

I'm curious to see if Malzahn makes adjustments to this. He's had time in the SEC to see what works and what doesn't. Will he stick with it or make adjustments?

Adjustment= Cam Newton.. A big QB that can run well and falls forward for 2-3 extra yards can really help in the red-zone..

showing great restraint on my part here. sounds just like the Cody Burns whoopla.

QB wasn't your main problem this year and this guy is a unknown.

I'm not saying he'll be a great QB overall, I'm only saying he'll help as far as an option in the red-zone..

what if he doesn't win the starting job?

I'm really not banking on him winning the job.. From what I hear, Tyrik is still at AU.. I'd almost rather have Tyrik win the job, go through the growing pains of his first year, and have him for 3 more years.. But all in all, I just want a consistent QB that we know what to expect from.. Either way a dual-threat QB will add more dimensions to the offense that will hopefully cure some of these 3 and outs..

The shotgun is not "fancy smancy." It is our base O. And the majority of the time in the NFL on 3 and 2 is a pass.

And Cam Newton will win the startng job. He has experience. Granted it is JUCO, but there is no substitute for experience. I cannot wait to see him truck a bammer LBer this November. Remember, he is a big as your LBers.

People may doubt Newton's passing abilities, but his running abilities have never been in question. Even if he doesn't win the starting QB position, he'll be an imposing short-yardage/redzone Wildcat QB.

honestly, i dont think he's as good of a playcaller as SOME people give him credit for. but as for gameplanning and scripting the first 15 plays of the game, the dude is second to none.

... I know that must have been tough. My e-hate for you has stepped down a notch.

As for Cam... I'd say there is about a 90% chance he'll be the starter. His athleticism, size, and arm strength are superior to our other QB's. He has the tools to be a great one. The only thing remaining to be answered is if he will be able to run the offense and run it effectively.
