FWIW UT offered Simms instead of Newton. They felt his character problems weren't worth the hassle.

If a kid has enough "character issues" to be kicked off of the Florida Gators. Then I don't even think Lane Kiffin would take him.
It also depends on the talent...Newton isn't worth the trouble, but other players would be.

Can Newton read a defense? I've seen posts about his lack of accuracy and his uncanny ability to acquire high end electronics, but this I don't know
