Copy and paste from a Facebook post from XNA airport in Northwest Arkansas. Kudos to these young heroes.
The SEC Softball Tournament continues today at the University Of Arkansas.
While some of the best college softball players in the nation are on the field, the true heroes of the tournament are sitting in the dugout.
Two young people who saved a life.
Two young people who have made America proud.
It was this past Tuesday, and the Auburn players and coaches were deplaning.
The Tigers had just arrived at Northwest Arkansas National Airport in Bentonville.
The chartered plane parked on the tarmac as a bus arrived that would take the team to Fayetteville.
Lora Fuhrmann and Noah Tanner caught sight of the man several yards away.
Noah Tanner is a hard-working junior at Auburn University.
A graduate of Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, he works as a student athletic trainer with the football and softball teams.
Lora Fuhrmann is a full-time athletic trainer- she has a Master’s degree from Ohio State, and she worked at Cal before landing at Auburn.
“You never want to have to put your training to work, but if you do, you need to be ready,” Tanner told me.
Lora and Tanner were ready as they ran to the airport worker who had collapsed on the tarmac.
“He was having some severe complications and needed help,” Tanner said.
“We did CPR and aided him in other ways as we waited for airport medics to arrive.”
“The EMT’s arrived within 5 to 8 minutes,” Tanner added. “But I’m glad we were there.”
As the Tigers prepare to face Ole Miss today at the SEC Tournament, Lora and Tanner are feeling proud.
Airport officials say that without Lora and Tanner’s actions, their employee likely would not have made it.
“Their efforts likely contributed to saving a life,” airport spokesman Brian Burke said in a press release.
Auburn coaches and officials are also hailing Lora and Tanner’s actions.
“The most important thing we want to come out of this is the importance of learning CPR,” Tanner told me.
“Anyone can learn CPR, and we can all save lives. A doctor or an athletic trainer is not always going to be around when an emergency occurs.”
The story of Lora and Tanner may not receive national headlines today, but perhaps it should.
For today in the midst of pitchers and catchers and infielders and outfielders will sit two heroes in a dugout in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Very cool story. Great work by these kids.
Especially Noah Tanner.
Attending both Thompson and Auburn is about as disadvantaged in life as one can get.
Glad to see he made it out.
