If McElroy comes back I expect the West to be decided at the Iron bowl next year.

The best Auburn can do next year will be about 9-3.

Disagree. Auburn nearly went 9-3 this year in our close games; should have won UGA, and UK that would have made the season 9-3. Next year we are a senior heavy team with added depth to rest the starters, 9-3 is the worst I see us going.

Auburn just does not have the depth they need yet to win more than nine games next year. Tuberville did not recruit very well at the end. Pat Dye has even talked about this.

Close doesn't count. You will need a significant improvement in your QB and in your defense to be a player in the west next year.

The other issue is that all of the West teams have seen Gus's offense, it will either need to be much better executed or have quite a few more wrinkles put in.

Wasn't his second year at Tulsa better than his first?

I see Auburn becoming a real contender for the west in 2 years. I'll give Chizik two years to bring in some players.

While Todd put up a great season for Auburn with this offense there are still plays missing from this offense. We are not throwing as much as Gus would like and we are not running near the pace he wants still. We slowed it down towards the end of the season to help the defense out due to no depth there. Any QB we start will be more talented than Todd, he struggled with the deep ball and that was obvious, rarely if ever did you see him over throw a receiver on a post route.

Defensively this Auburn defense ended the season with better stats in the last 6 games than the 2007 defense did against similar competition. With the added depth the fact we'll have mostly seniors in all the key positions all of this points to Auburn improving next year.

I expect Bama to take a step back but still be in the running.

Ole Miss will take a step back unless Nutt figures out how to coach a QB.

LSU I expect to stay the same.

Arkansas has the potential to win the West next year if it can get a defense under it but I still think Petrino is a year away from it.
