Thorton **** Whittaker**** Seastrunk or Lattimore ***** should bump us even higher.... UGA just fired their staff and was the only real comp for both Thor and Whit... AU lands one of the two remaining 5 star RB's...

Why are people surprised at this? We have a new sexy offense, a good defensive mind in Chizik and young coaches that relate to the players. Add the fact that in terms of college football Auburn is a big name program that offers playing time and we are going to be at the top.

Y'all better land some lineman or all the 5 star RB's in the world won't do you any good.
Get a new OL coach for one. Grimes is a bottom of the barrel OL coach.

Are you an expert on OL coaches?
Don't worry about our OL class.... we've got commits from a couple good ones and will add a JUCO OL for depth next season.

How did you come to this conclusion? The guy is very well tenured and has demonstrated success at his stops.

I have a friend who is a HS coach in the area around Starkville. He goes to all of the camps at MSU. For the last 3 years before this year he has been telling us about how bad a coach Grimes was and then it was inexplicable why Croom kept him around.
Basically he tries to teach too many first steps for a college lineman to effectively execute. MSU's line was awful under Grimes. Notice a difference this year?

If you look at a stat sheet his tenures at Colorado and BYU are impressive. I realize it's not all about statistics, but he's not bottom of the barrel.

On a different note while I am talking about my friend the HS coach, he explained why Relf did not start as QB for State.
He sat in a QB meeting last year with the OC, Tyson Lee and Chris Relf. The OC would freeze the projector and ask Tyson Lee what his read was in relation to the X the Y etc.. Lee answered every question correctly to the T. Relf had to ask who was the X and who was the Y etc..

Jeff Grimes came from Colorado. J.B. Grimes was on Croom's staff.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I wondered why in the Hell Auburn hired him, now I know they did not.

Many more than that too.
Erick Mack, Roszell Gayden, Victor Beasley, C.J. Mosley, Corey Lemonier, John Cullen, and James Stone are all really high on Auburn.
We'll likely get eight more commitments with six or seven of them being 4 stars or higher.

Those are pretty high aspirations but we shall see...

SHon Coleman and Ed Christian are damn good OLmen. Chad Slade has potential as well and AU still has John Sullen and Andre Harris already waiting in the wings at Auburn. Combine that with the fact that AU is only losing one OL this year, and there are still more OL to come, that shapes up pretty well for our OL.
ANd Grimes' new OL took a rag-tag OL from last year and turned it into and OL that blocked for one of the best runners in the country, an AU record-setting passer (though that is partially due to Malzahn's Offense) and realatively few sacks. How is Grimes "bottom of the barrell"?

That is good for ya'll. But the truth is teams ranked 5-20 in the final rankings are all about the same. It is in the top 3 recruiting classes nationally, where the cream really rises to the top. Huge difference. The key for Auburn is to recruit heavy on OL for the next 2 years and then maybe you will have a fighting chance in 2012.

Read a few posts up. I had the wrong J. Grimes.
