Heading to the game this weekend in Athens. First time in 10 years or so since I have been. What are some good places to eat/drink/watch some other games while in town?

1) Grab yourself a dead cat by the tail.
2) Swing it.
3) When it hits a bar, go in there and eat, drink, and watch games.

You can't go wrong.

Food: Trapeze (best beer selection, really good food), The Place (some of my favorite food in town and overlooks North Campus), Cali N Titos (away from downtown but walking distance to stadium, BYOB)

Booze: Creature Comforts brewery (downtown and is a must-do IMO), Terrapin Brewery right outside downtown, Trappeze as mentioned above, and then for stereotypical bars I'd go with Nowhere (dive), Allgood Lounge, or Cutters (massive renovation just done and it is really awesome).

Watch the game: Georgia Theatre, Cutters, LiveWire

If I were a visiting fan I would not want to watch at GA Theater, ESPECIALLY a night game.

I would put Last resort high on the list but it is very difficult to get in there during game weekends (its pretty small and always crowded) but one of my favorites.

Georges Lowcountry on Milledge is also one of my favorites and a few places in Five Points.

If you want super fancy Five and 10 also on Milledge is where we go from time to time for "date nights" (I am old and long time married) very nice upscale place.

Teds mosts best is your typical pizza fare but good. If you want to look around, cant beat downtown Athens. Good places to eat, great music and bar scene. If you are with a woman friend the botanical gardens are nice. Or some of the local breweries like Terrapin is worth a stop. Nothing fancy.

If your up for a 15 minute drive out to the country, come visit us in Watkinsville at Chops and Hops. Only locals out this way, good beer selection, reasonable food. Wonderful people

To watch other games, plenty of places downtown to find some TV's but I recommend you walk around the tailgates. As an LSU fan you are the last person I want to see ;-)
Just kidding. Welcome anytime you wont leave hungry or sober. I am the ONLY LSU tent and chairs in the entire place right across from the Georgia Center. Hard to miss me.

Are games on all day there or just the UGA game? I remember when I used to go to Baton Rouge to see us play years ago LSU had a movie theatre in the union and they showed games all day for free in there. If it's like that I could sit in there a while and watch the CBS game a while but I'm not interested in traveling to Athens to watch our game on TV, even if it is a really big tv

I assume you are attending the game so if you are looking to watch other games prior to kickoff like many have said pick a place and walk in. You wont have a hard time finding a place for a cold beer and watch some football. I would avoid the GA Theatre for game watching. Being born and raised in Baton Rouge and attending LSU Games for 40+ years its not like what LSU does in the union.

As I have stated on Saturday you will find many tailgates (ours for example) that has multiple TVs watching football as well.

Mellow Mushroom is nothing special. There are better places. I think 3 of us are going. Won't know until tomorrow.

There aren't that many places in downtown Athens that have food, good beer selection and lots of TVs. Most of the places are just bars. And lots of the restaurants don't have TVs. So good look in your search. I hope you choke on whatever you decide to eat.

Fuzzy's Taco Shop is a good place to watch games.

Athens is a tremendous downtown, but the only negative is the lack of true sports bars. Blind Pig is probably the only true sports bar downtown. The Taco Stand is another pretty good place to eat and watch.
