Here's an article on Texas HS football and the spread.
I suppose the DL is taught to elude blockers with their ears pinned back...not conducive to stopping the run.

Put Les Stoops and Ritchie in a sack, shake it up and when they all tumble out they would be indistinguishable .
But I like Les more.

mediocre against the upper echelon of coaching
Around .500 is mediocre? If against everyone, sure. But against the very best? Agree to disagree then. If the standard is Saban then I suppose everyone is mediocre. Let me ask you this...who's elite?

Nah, Miles is 1-1 in NCG's while Richt is 0-0. I'll take Miles and I'm far from a big Miles supporter.

Actually, for any poster here...Besides Saban, who exactly is elite, this I would like to hear.

Do you truly believe your sig?

Still on the Coach Miles bandwagon...no where to jump.
There isn't anyone better that LSU could nab or simply no one better?

See question above...who, save Saban, is elite?

You tell me!
I mean, we passed on Gruden, Jimmy Johnson etc... could LSU land them?

I think I see the fallacy of this discussion. The question: Who is elite, can't be properly answered. The only coaches I can think of, based on actual accomplishments, is Saban, Meyer and Spurrier. Everyone else, is theory, not something actually done. Wouldn;t this be about right?

I guess the Stoops comparison is a step-up from the Coker comparison days.

I think Spurrier is still a good coach, but I think he is over the hill as far as the drive to be elite.
Pete Carroll would be a good get, but he is actually finding success at the NFL level, so doubtful he would leave.
Petersen and Patterson have done well, but questions remain how much it is them versus only having to get their teams up for a couple games a year although Patterson will answer this question over time in the next few years.

I think Patterson would be a pretty good get for LSU. He may be the type of guy to turn things around down in BR.

You know, the more I think about it I'm not sure Patterson would go to LSU.

Can Miles recover from what has been a tough 2 years stretch of disappointments?
23-4.....tough 2-year stretch.
Everyone who is competing for the NC is disappointed when you don't win it.
