Those that assume Jessica won't get paid also probably think that she is Petrino's only indiscretion. I bet she isn't and I also bet she isn't the first one who worked for the athletic department.
Jessica suing or filing a claim against UA would open Petrino and the administration up to questions re other instances/who knew what/etc. She may be a gold digger but if you think she isn't going to be one of the top twenty paid university employees in the State of Arkansas in 2012 you are out of your mind.
Oh no, she is going to get paid. I expect she will recieve a nice severance package that includes a clause that bars her from speaking about the relationship and crash.

Post the GPS, then the nerds on Hogville can geocache it.
Put a coffee can full of feces for them to finger paint each other with.

We've got enough stfu money and political connections in our university to put the bitch in Guantanamo bay if we want. It's not a battle she really wants to pick.

In addition to the credit card, he also brought bad publicity onto Alabama. He paid back the credit card but couldn't undo the damage.
Petrino is a good coach. The best you guys have had since Holtz and Holtz got run out of town by Broyles for no good reason.
I understand you wanting to keep him but this story will continue to fester - SEC media days will be a circus. Petrino already has a tough time recruiting (mainly because of the lack of talent in Arkansas) and if recruiting takes a hit over this then he will look for the first chance to bolt and Arkansas will take the reputation hit for no good reason and left to rebuild whatever he leaves. Good luck

Sexual Harrassment must be unwanted attention or pressure from a co-worker or supervisor.
Mutually consensual relationship does not fall into sexual harrassment.
If the relationship started prior to her applying for the job and since she would not have been a university employee when the relationship started it would be very hard for her to show that she was sexually harassed.
I'm not saying she doesn't have some challenges to overcome, should this go to litigation. And the poster to whom I was responding put some, as yet, unproven facts and speculations about what her testimony might be. But what he described was not "hostile work environment", but quid pro quo. Their pre-existing relationship might get the football team/athletic department off the hook for straight up sexual harassment.
As I indicated in another post (perhaps in another thread), they have a slew of issues related to this. This is a public institution. If a senior official (Petrino) engineered a lucrative job for a f*ck buddy, that's subject to ethical review, oversight and perhaps is illegal (I don't know). Other job applicants (for Jessica's, ahem, "position") might have a cause of action as well.
This is a case study on why it is never a good idea to $hit where you eat.
(ETA: And all of this adds support to your other point that she will get paid, regardless)

My god, I never thought that a state that produced Bear Bryant, Charlie MaClendon, Barry Switzer, etc would be so desperate to save a POS that wasn't even born in the state. How low have you hogs let yourself be driven. I think the whole state should be put on a suicide watch.

Ace is right. I used the wrong term. I still can't believe anyone in Arkansas thinks that this is going to blow over and Arkansas won't make her a rich - whatever she is.

I think you just hit on what it is, and why I think Petrino can not survive this. Quid pro quo is cut and dry sexual harassment from the stand point that he had a relationship with that girl and used his position to promote her. From a legal standpoint we are screwed.
Hate to say this but the best thing we can do is FIRE Petrino and HIRE GUS and I am not a Gus Bus lover but recruiting will automatically go up. Right away.

I am sure Jeff Long is having a hard time making a decision and going back and forth as well so that makes 4 of us.

So Gus would leave stAte before even coaching a game
Or does he come in next year, if so who coaches the Hogs this year?

I wasn't there when he talked to authorities, but I'm assuming he told the law the same thing he told his boss and UA, that there was no one with him when he wrecked. If he told the SP a lie then that is false information in any state even Arky, and that my friend is against the law.
It is called obstruction of justice, you might want to look it up..

Maybe. But the girl was very much qualified (alumni, former athlete, master's degree, and experience in the field).
I think the university could argue that regardless of Petrino and her relationship she would have been hired over any of the other applicants (if there were any).
I don't think it would fall into unethical hiring process as long as she was qualified, and the job was posted for the madatory time.
