Seriously, a lawsuit would be about the worst oucome for A&M in all of this
A lawsuit could be problematic since it would give the NCAA the right to access information through discovery requests, the ability to use subpoenas to compel witnesses to give depositions, etc. It lacks these powers now, but a lawsuit would hand them to the keys to the information they want. A potential can of worms unless the Manzeils' are squeaky clean, and even then a very expensive, disruptive, and unpleasant experience. I doubt seriously we see any kind of lawsuit against the NCAA, at least while Manziel still is trying to play college football.

I thought you said earlier there is no way anyone would sign autographs for this guy for no money. I can post when you said that if you would like?
No, I posed a ridiculous hypothetical, which is the basis of your defense at the moment, about Manziel helping the shady drug dealer out because he's a great guy.
I asked for a link to threads and reports about the other players you mention accepting money. I'll gladly make the same claim there, and I also expect to see you there saying they didn't accept anything from the broker because him being a drug dealer means he wouldn't willingly allow someone to break rules in order for him to make a profit.

Yall have got to be kidding. Do we need our Auburn friends to link all the BS Joe Schad spewed about sources and evidence against them?
I mean, saying his sources have told him something that later turns out to be not true or the sources never come forward on the record is waaaay different than saying he actually saw with his own eyes a video recording with the details he described.
I'm not saying Schad is some model of journalistic integrity, but you guys pretending all this smoke isn't coming from some fire are pretty funny.
And what about the Cam saga ended up being not true? There were recordings of his dad asking for cash. The NCAA reinstated him because they somehow bought that Cam was unaware, but pretending like that was all some media creation as well is just dumb

No shite. And where would they find a character witness?

I think Joe shad has the video locked up with all his Cam newton evidence
In regards to the Cam shite: I'm pretty sure he was told there was tapes; I don't think he ever claimed to have watched them.
And it was that vampire looking mother fricker Sheridan that lied his arse off the entire time.

This is correct, I think.
That's why this is a big deal that Schad is openly saying he has seen the videos, the stuff is real, and JFF is guilty. Without having seen the evidence firsthand, I doubt he would be as forthright.

If Joe hadn't quoted parts of the video that aren't incriminating and paraphrased the parts that are, you might have a decent argument. But the guy says he inferred something Johnny said to mean he had taken money before without even quoting what was actually said.
And Joe knows full well that the video will never see the light of day because it is illegal to record audio in CT without both parties consenting.

or "the gospel" as it was called back then.
But schad never said he saw/heard tapes with cam, just that he was told they exisited. I don't think very highly of the man but either he's changed his game plan and is just outright lying now without even the guise of calling them "sources" or he's heard/seen the tape. I lean to the latter.

That's like calling herbstreit a liar for saying "miles to Michigan"
It doesn't make Herbie a liar IMO.

This
aTm has to cooperate with the NCAA because they are a member institution. Manziel's can't piss off the NCAA if JFF still wants to play ball at aTm.
NCAA (as dysfuntional as they are) have the upper hand as usual, they can screw JFF and aTm if they wish. They've been known to use secret witnesses, secret sources, lying/stealing/corrupt individuals (Shapiro) in the past to get what they want. They sanctioned PennState heavily and didn't even investigate shite - they just took the word of some random agency - and penalized that whole program.

What other way would you "infer" what was allegedly said?
And since when is the NCAA not allowed to make inferences in evaluating evidence?

It's inadmissiable in a court of law. Last time I checked, the NCAA isn't a court of law.
Also, according to this, it's only illegal to record private phone calls in the state of CT. It says jackshit about videos.

This.
All the idiots in the media talking about what the NCAA can "prove" are talking out of their asses.
There is no burden of proof. There are no rules of evidence.
The NCAA will review whatever they can gather, and make whatever determination they want.
If they're convinced he accepted cash, he's done. Plain and simple.
They don't have to "prove" anything.

How'd that law exam go today?
