Why can't they just allow part time jobs or whatever, but you have to report every dollar earned, and if it seems like your exploiting the ncaa, university, etc you get penalties.

When do you suggest they work between classes and practice?

Then on top of that to discourage, the whole memorabilia issue, make any school promoting their student athletes , set up a fund for that student earning a percentage of the profits, that are compounded and paid at time of departure.

That's a good idea.

Aggie.

Johnny is going down.
No one cares about Clowney. He's not out in public being a smug douchebag.

I've always thought they should do this. If I'm watching a kid play, it doesn't take away his amateur status in my mind if I know he gets a percentage of his jersey sales when he graduates.

If Schad had any journalistic ethics, he'd be looking into these other athletes who have autographed memorabilia flooding ebay... or at least mention it.

why not just say "frick athletic scholarships?" You want to go to school to play football? pay for it yourself. These kids are getting upwards of 200,000 dollars of free education. If they don't want it there are many that do and will abide by the rules stated in the contract. I say do away with the scholarships and let the athletes do as they choose with their names. Bet not many bite on that offer. Only when the field changes and they go from begging for a free education to making big $$$ on the side, will they agree to that.

In what ways has Johnny been a "douchebag"?

It has been mentioned more than once. Athletes sign many autographs and if you have one you can sell it if you want to. Difference here is there are thousands numbered in sequence that indicates it was an organized signing designed to profit big time.

if you think the programs of Bama, LSU, USC, Ohio State, UT, UF, Oregon, etc have an advantage now on the lower tier schools just wait til kids start making money off of selling their jerseys.

I'm sure the booster money flowing the kids way is equal between Ohio State and Miami (OH) right now.

Not thousands but I agree, it smells like Manziel profited from this. But if you check ebay and the memorabilia market, you'll see it's flooded with Clowney and Marquise Lee signed memorabilia at the same rate at Manziel.

I'm just saying, if Schad was really investigating this fairly and properly, he'd look into these as well.
