What would happen in the rare occasion that this game actually had playoff implications? Could they or would they move the game up a week?

DoD just needs to start funding the service academies.

This is actually a really good question...

But I think it is important to note that years ago... Army-Navy was played on rivalry weekend with all the other games... and it wasn't near as big a deal as it is now. It was kind of lost in the shuffle with all the other games that were going on. It was competing with Michigan Ohio-State, Oklahoma-Nebraska, Alabama-Auburn that weekend.

Because of the fact that it is a unique game... they moved it back a week in the mid '80s... and then again another week when they started doing the CCGs in the 1990s. But it worked because now everybody considers it a big rivalry again.

If they moved it back to CCG weekend... it would be back to competing with games that have way more gravitas than it does...

But you are right... this could be problematic if one or both of the two teams were competing for that G-5 spot... and that is actually a very real possibility to happen.

It’s also inevitable that the playoffs will expand in the near future. One of these teams in the playoffs will not be far fetched at that point.
