Texas and OU play every year in a run-down stadium, I'm sure the schools could make more money by playing home and home, same for Georgia and Florida, etc.
Why did Notre Dame play "home" games in San Antonio and Japan? Why did Northwestern play in Wrigley? How does the posi-traction in a Plymouth work?

We picked up several good linemen and a QB in the past recruiting class from NWA...
We will see in a few years how it cycles out as there was a time when if you were good enough to start for LR-Central you were good enough to play college ball, somewhere, now? Not so much...
It does seem like NWA is starting to produce some better recruits, and I hope it does. But I expect Central/Southern AR to remain the most important.

Just in case you forgot what they look like. That was a crappy morning too. Found a nice rotten log to make me get soaked

Recruiting logic is well over played for WMS.
El Dorado is closer to LSU than Fayetteville.
Pine Bluff is closer to Ole Miss than Fayetteville.
Recruiting is region and national wide. I'm more worried about Auburn taking Arkansas kids than LSU. Little Rock provides no advantage anymore because the game has changed.

I think the priority has shifted to getting the truly SEC caliber players each year from instate which can vary from a couple to as many as 10 or so a year while going elsewhere to fill out the remainder of the class with SEC caliber recruits.
In other words, recruiting the elite instate kids will be the priority, filling out the class with instate kids, not so much...

I remember D.J. Williams talking about how he was always excited to play a game back home. Others have said the same thing, but I remember him specifically. Having a chance to play close to home, in front of your friends and family, definitely does have a positive impact.
As far as El Dorado being closer to LSU and Pine Bluff closer to Ole Miss, you are only making my point that we need to keep a game in Little Rock.

Do you think the reasons behind keeping the games in LR has changed, numerous times, over 60 years?
Do you even consider this to be possible?
I'm not saying we should or shouldn't, I'm saying it isn't as easy as for this one reason or because of this other reason.
Personally, I really do not care, I like the idea of the tradition to play there, but this is mainly backed by the opposing fans hating that the game is played there...

1 player, great I can show you 3 folds who've never been to little rock nor care.
Wrong.
You missed my point about the recruiting. Little Rock offers no advantage anymore. If so LSU would pay in Shreveport to protect northern LA from Arkansas, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU and Oklahoma.
They do not why, because they recruit better.
Arkansas was the #21 most talent producing state last year of talent. Central Arkansas produced what 2 kids, are you KIDDING ME!?
Get those kids out of the gangs and onto the field for their own life's sake.

You're pointing to one year. Last year was a down year, for LR recruiting. Watch out for Altee Tenpenny, aka Darren Mcfadden II
I think we have accomplished a lot in this thread, gentlemen. I will now call it a night

100% it's changed.
NWA Metro Population 2000: 334,000
NWA Metro Population 2010: 465,000
NWA Airport Passengers 2000: 53,000
NWA Airport Passengers 2009: 1,300,000
NWA Airport Double Expansion sized opens next month Sept. 2011.
2001, Student Body: 16,000.
2010, Student Body: 23,400.
1998 was the first 4-lane highway at 75mph directly to Fayetteville.
In 2 more years you'll be able to go from Fort Smith, Ark to Canada via 4-lane highway at 75mph.
Tulsa to Fayetteville 4-lane highway.
Massive difference in population shift, increased enrollment, accessability.
If WMS would've committed and built 85,000 seats and brought in more concerts and events I'd be ok with it. The ship sailed and it's time to pull out.

Again, 1 guy.
In the 70's we had 6-7 guys from Little Rock a year.
Little Rock has a racial and gang problem. It's full of talent athletes and is 45% black, yet 1 athlete a year!
HUGE problem.

Hey, real quick question for a thread I intend to do tomorrow...
In terms of all Arkansas High School State Tourneys/Finals etc, all divisions, are the games played in LR or spread about the state? Sports like Hoops, Track, Football and Baseball, specifically.
TIA

I would love to see all games played in Fayetteville. I believe the old central Arkansas money is slowly losing it's grip on the hill.
I think recruiting in NWA will continue to get better. Since Katrina the talent level has improved.
I really hope the new staff at LR Central can get that program jump started again.

Agreed on all levels.

I don't normally call people out on message boards, but dude... You're fricking ignorant. Please stay on the west coast. Nobody around here gives a shite about your pseudo-intellectual drivel. Seriously.
As for the GSD, I don't care to address the relative politics . I am not privy to any financial motives or other reasons as to why we play at WMS, but I do know this:
We win in Little Rock.
It's a great town, and the game day atmosphere is amazing. And while we may hold some debatable sense of entitlement to those two games, it's just because the traditions surrounding those events are deeply rooted in the hearts of those that have grown up in Central Arkansas.
Also, frick MS and LSU. Stop whining already.

Finally, someone coming, guns blazing, with emotion. LOVE people like you.
Call me out for what?
You obviously gave a shite about my "pseduo-intellectual drivel" , nice wit comment, because it struck a chord with you enough for you to post about it.

If you do not care to add to the debate why post out of the blue? Need the attention?
People hate change what else is new? Change is something the state government of Arkansas has never been good at. I don't care what you say the state of Arkansas is highly segregated and has always been that way. Look up "White-flight".
We are comparing Football Stadiums in Little Rock vs Fayetteville. We are also pointing out the lack of Talent Little Rock is producing.
When a town of Warren, Ark (6,000 people) produces more talent year in and out than Little Rock (200,000 people), we have a huge problem.
Side Note: Well look at that, who knew Little Rock was bigger than Jackson, MS now for comparison sake?

Is there any chance on the horizon that this game gets moved to Fayetteville for the hogs home game vs LSU? Don't know how y'all hog fans feel but I'd be pissed if LSU traveled to Shreveport every other year to play a top 25 team, kinda screws the "home" team by having to travel and not having full capacity of their fans in their favor.
One of these centuries ... prolly long after our Deaths ... The hawgs will get a decent stadium
But since they are such a lowly and undeserving bunch, they'll prolly use that WAR STADIUM SHIDHOLE for the next 100 years

It's the biggest SHIDHOLE in the SEC

No respect EVER for these losers
