I would bet those records are better than many teams that actually made the tourney, which is why I say it's still bullshite that Arky got snubbed for the NIT, even if they would have turned it down they should have been invited.

Yeah, we scheduled to make post season play this year even tho our roster isn't that great. This is what the tourney has told teams to do, go out and play somebody, so we do.

Meanwhile teams like Iowa, Virginia, etc takes a schedule like Pel would have had, easy, ranks in the 300s in OOC, and gets in over us. They used that type of schedule to keep us out the past two years and it was "improve your conference record", we did that this year, they just keep moving the bar...

So you are comparing Bama football to Arky basketball now?

I think y'all did it right as far as scheduling goes. Some other SEC teams need to figure it out too. It almost cost Ole Miss.

Our schedule should improve next year as well with the tournament in Maui and picking up some better OOC opponents at home.

Pel was horrible at this, he dropped us out of early season tournaments to pick up SWAC teams at home, we lost games with Texas, Baylor and Texas Tech at neutral sites, etc. One of the first things Mike had to do was address the schedule as Pel was trying to set it up to pad wins, that is why when you look at our record from last year to this year it doesn't look like much of an improvement, but we played twice as many tournament teams this year, and I forgot we played at Michigan in the listing above...

Fire Pel again!!!

Is this thread a joke or was Arky really left out of the NIT? Will you guys go to the new CBI? I think you'd be a #1 seed there.

Sao, Missouri's goal is getting past the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

That should probably be your goal too since your vaunted basketball program hasn't been there since 2008.

What's that? One advancement out of the first round in the last decade or more?

A team has to walk before they can run. Arkansas has been to multiple final fours, great eights and sweet sixteens under different coaches so we know it can be done and often.

If our goal is to just get to the NCAA and win one game then we just need to shut down the program. Missouri has a long history of losing in the first round to lower seeded teams so advancing past the first or second round would be quite an accomplishment for their team not coached by Anderson.

The decline of Arky's basketball program began when they joined SEC. Nolan entered league with several jucos that could not have been admitted to Arky had they been in SEC at time they signed.
Nolan's record dropped after '94. Arky was only school in SWC interested in basketball until Houston joined conference.
See Arky's SEC record compared to their SWC record. Not very impressive.
I don't see Hogs being a consistent top three SEC basketball team. They will be better in basketball than football.

Wrong.

The NCAA went on a witch hunt after our program in 96 that broke up the #1 class in the country and didn't allow Nolan to recruit JUCOs for a few years, they didn't allow Jesse Pate or Sunday Adebayo to play for us, Sunday went to Memphis St. and they forced Jesse to transfer as well.

It was so bad the NCAA apologized to us and allowed Sunday to transfer back with immediate eligibility and gave him back the year and a 1/2 he spent at Memphis to play for us, Jesse was already playing Pro ball by that time.

The 94 team was comprised of players who were recruited and qualified under SEC guidelines.

You nailed it. It by no means began to decline until the NCAA crap.

Dale, you had couple of jucos who would not have been eligible. Now give me Arky's record in SEC. How many regular season titles compared to a 25 yr span in SWC?

Are you saying that playing in the SEC is the reason for the decline?

Don't just say JUCOs, give us names of these guys since you act like you know so much

It's got nothing to do with the SEC. We were beating and playing tough OOC opponents long before we joined the SEC.

That's because he isn't on the hotseat.

If we don't make the NCAAT next year, he will be.

But going into next year?

So he's on the warm-seat.

No, not even warm right now.

Anyone who followed Arkansas closely knows the situation Pel left us in. APR cost us a scholly and practice time. It also has been an issue when it comes to weeding guys out. Mike can't do it because of our APR issues.

Not hot yet, but will be soon sounds like he's on a warm seat. I bet that suitcase is half packed.

Well... at least everyone is becoming more aware that Arkansas basketball is like a 90s one hit wonder band.

Exactly. This was a rebuild job from the get-go. Pel's constant roster turn over has seen us with 20 guys go through the program in 5 years and only 2 players, both of which were in his first recruiting class, both of which were recruited by Stan Heath, stay for four years on the team.

We didn't have a Freshman-Senior this year, and possibly will not have one next year either. The talent Pel left behind were role players at best, it will take time for the situation to turn around as Mike can't cull all the dead weight at once due to the APR so we have to slowly process them one by one or wait for them to graduate to bring in better players.
