You're just being an idiot and trolling but I'll bite. Trying to make the argument that a team that has a good enough season to make the tournament (but doesn't win the tournament) had the same type of season as a team that didn't play well enough all year to make any tournament is just stupidity. I would go so far as to say Arky's season was better than Grambling State's. Would you disagree?

Nolan went 31-30 his first two years here. Losing overall record in conference play as well.
He did manage to make the NIT his second year, but only went 8-8 in league play.
This. Nolan was lucky to have survived the second year. Few people remember this but there was one player who kept Nolan from being fired that year....Cannon Whitby! Cannon Whitby? That right, little Cannon Whitby.
The Hogs struggled all year long because the players we had just couldn't play Nolan Ball and we ended up playing Arkansas State in the first round of the NIT. If memory serves me correctly the Indians had a huge lead at the half (I think it was somewhere around 22 points) and Broyles was furious. In fact I think he left the arena with that "I going to fire his arse over this" look and I believe he would have had the Hogs not come back and won the game.
But, Cannon Whitby lit the Indians up in the second half and we were able to pull it out (the game may have went into OT but I'm not sure). Some are amused when I state that Cannon Whitby saved Nolan's job but I really believe had Arkansas lost to Arkansas State Nolan would not have survived and we would have not have won that game without Whitby's performance.
I had the glasses on ole Frank and his face was as red as it could be and given Frank's history I'm certain that Nolan would have been fired if the Hogs had not come back in that game.

Sao, Missouri's goal is getting past the first round of the NCAA Tournament. If they do that then it's considered a huge success in spite of having a 2nd seed last year and dropping to an 8 seed this year. What Tiger Fans won't admit is that their program is regressing under Haith but hell, I'm all for locking Haith into a long-term contract.

Listen... congrats on your tourney bid and ability to smile over our more than disappointing attempt to accomplish same.
What do we Hog fans do now? Well, it's a bit different from your routine. Yes, it's true we will search for solace dusting off old VCR tapes of our title runs in 1994 and 1995. Seems so long ago to be sure... but for us, sliding the tapes into our old Panasonic's is somewhat more comforting than a new Youtube vid of some random win over Kansas...
Because, Kiddo, that's all you've got.

Whatever man, I'm not even necessarily talking about Mizzou and Arky. I just think it's stupid to say if you don't win a NC then who gives a shite if you make the tourney at all. Of course everyone would prefer to win it all, but I'm calling your bullshite that any fan wouldn't want their team in the tourney even if they ultimately don't win it.

I'm not saying they're progressing or regressing at this point. Haith had to fill in a team that MA left with 2 players on the roster. Haith did a fairly good job of patching a team together with transfers because he had little choice. At the same time, I've seen things "in game" that give me cause for concern. Unfortunately, though, I just don't think we'll get the real answer about Haith until the next 2-3 years.

Your standards are just lower than ours and who are we to disturb that grove?
Let me ask you this and answer honestly. You're going to fill out your bracket today. Where did you have your Tigs going out?

You got me confused with someone else. I would prefer Arky make the tourney. I would prefer the SEC get 7 teams in. I also said I think Arky got screwed in the NIT bid. But to say you're just as happy that Arky is sitting at home and not playing still is, or at least should be, bullshite.

The honest answer is which bracket? In one, frankly I will have Mizzou in the final four. While that is what I want, hope and expect, I also am smart enough to know that may be looking at things through Black and Gold tinted glasses, after having a season's worth of games to determine what kind of team Mizzou is. In the other bracket, I will have them losing to Louisville because Louisville has earned that respect by already beating us on a much more neutral court.

Boo fricking hoo.
Pel had to replace 10 players after his first season as well, you know why? Because Heath wasn't planning on being replaced. I do not know what his plan was to replace the 7 seniors from that squad, but it doesn't matter.
Mike didn't plan on leaving Mizzou, a better job came open and he took it. Haith was hired decided to take transfers instead of signing recruits in the late signing period, but I guess it will be Mike Anderson's fault that he will have to replace all those transfers after this season as well, get over it.
Pel left us on probation due to mishandling of the APR, down a scholarship and facing the loss of another scholarship this season plus 4 hours of practice time per week. Since the seniors graduated his first year we have had 2 players play four years for us, Sanchez and Britt, we have had 20 other players come and go in that 5 year.

People thought Nolan couldn't do it with the same brand of basketball either.
"Street ball" could never hang with the sophisticated brand of ball that the Dukes, North Carolina's of the world play. It's been heard around these parts before, and it is being said again.
Anderson is missing a true point guard and a rotation of bigs down low right now. He has the fast break 3 point shooters in Haydar and Bell. He has the athletes who can score and jump out of the gym in Qualls and Clarke. He has depth at the guard spot in Gulley and Madden. Harris at 245lbs standing almost 6'7" will add an inside scoring threat next year immediately when he touches the floor. Kingsley and Portis are the athletic bigs Anderson has been in search of. Neither are projects and Portis is ready right now. Kingsley is ready defensively now, but needs work on the offensive side.
BJ young can't leave fast enough. While a very good basketball player, he showed this season he isn't a good team player. He is a loss, but not as big o one as some let on to be. He killed our offense and that can be seen by looking at game film.
Powell will be a loss if he leaves. He had developed a nice outside game to go with his post play. Although, he declined over the last two weeks of the season.
All in all, it probably isn't a bad thing this group is at home right now. Young can continue to not go to class and work on his one on one game and Powell can get his overseas contract finalized. Rickey Scott can start packing his bags, and Hunter Mickleson will follow.

I'm sure Anderson would have loved to have been invited but I'm not sure all the players felt the same. I was very surprised the Hogs didn't get invited with their wins over NCAA Tournament Teams Florida, Oklahoma, Missouri and NIT Teams Kentucky and Bama but I'm not disappointed.
In fact I was hoping that if the Hogs did get invited we would turn it down because the NIT really means very little in the overall scheme of things and if we had to play on the road we were one-and-done anyway. To me it was a lose-lose situation.

So every year that Arkansas has not won a national championship has been a complete and utter disappointment?

Whose crying over anything. Those were just the situations that each coach was left with. I would agree MA came into a tough spot and he'll eventually get it turned around. Likewise, Haith was left in a tough spot and the book on him won't be answered until 2 or 3 years from now. Just is what it is.

My comment wasn't as much about the "style" of basketball, but more about my respect for Nolan. I just don't think MA is in his league. MA is good and will get you back in the tourney again, but I don't know if that is good enough according to some posters. If MA's grade as a head coach is dependent on him winning a national championship, well, time will tell I guess.

So you are comparing Bama football to Arky basketball now? I think it's good that you go into every season with the expectation that you win the national championship that year. I do the same thing. At the same time, I'm realistic enough not to compare Mizzou or Arky basketball to Bama football.
