It's pretty hard for the 4th largest city in the country to be "southern", or pigeon-holed as anything for that matter. The more rural East Texas areas that are right near Houston and where College Station also happens to be located? Definitely southern.

Arkansas hill culture reminds me of Virginia hill culture. "Moonshiners" anyone? As far as whether or not they are southern, I don't know. I'm not in a position to make that decision. What does the rest of the SEC think?

Anyone saying that Arkansas isn't southern has obviously not spent much time in Arkansas. NWA is the least southern part of the state in terms of culture but the overwhelming majority of Arkansas fans were definitely brought up in southern culture.
